Black, whose real name is Bill K. Kapri, 21, was arrested on gun and drug charges Wednesday near Niagara Falls, New York, while trying to enter the US from Canada, New York State Police said.
Kapri and three others were detained by US Border and Customs Protection before being arrested by police.
Kapri faces allegations of criminal possession of a weapon second degree and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Officer James O'Callaghan, a public information officer for Troop A of the New York State Police, told CNN a Glock 9mm pistol was undeclared in their Cadillac Escalade at the Lewiston-Queenston International Bridge.
CNN has reached out to Black's representative for comment.
Kapri was arraigned at a court in the town of Lewiston and remanded to Niagara County Jail on $20,000/$40,000 cash bond.
He posted bail on Thursday, CNN affiliate WKBW reported. A video showed him walking to a parking lot, apparently shielding his face with a fan of cash.
The singer has a court date set for next month.
He was expected to perform in Boston at The House of Blues on Wednesday.
Kapri was raised in Pompano Beach, Florida. His breakout hit "Tunnel Vision" became his first top 10 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
A reported sexual assault summoned Boston police to the House of Blues music venue Wednesday night, but then officers also had to help break up a crowd of about 1,000 people who became “unruly” when they found out rapper Kodak Black, slated to perform, was a no show, officials said.
One man was arrested on multiple charges stemming from an alleged assault on venue security. Meanwhile, Kodak Black was arrested at the U.S.-Canadian border on gun and drug possession-related charges.
Police were called to the venue at 15 Lansdowne St. around 8:20 p.m. for the sexual assault, according to officials.

“Officers arrived on scene and observed a large group of approximately 200 people waiting outside the venue,” police said in a statement. “Officers entered the building where they encountered approximately 800 people inside who appeared to be growing restless while awaiting the start of the scheduled performance.”
Police found the reported victim, who was taken away by ambulance, and then contended with the concertgoers.
“While the officers continued to attend to the victim, the crowd both outside and inside the venue grew unruly upon learning that the headline performer of the show would not be appearing,” police said. “Officers called for additional responding units to assist with crowd control and dispersal.”
Samuel Simmons, 20, of Newton, was the man arrested “after a brief struggle;” police said they allegedly saw him “push and punch” venue security while trying to get back inside. He was charged with assault and battery, disorderly conduct, trespassing, and resisting arrest.
The House of Blues received a license premises violation for the alleged altercation and the sexual assault. Police are continuing to investigate the sexual assault and further details have been “deemed classified.” No injuries were reported from the scene, police said.

As for Kodak Black, he was allegedly driving a Cadillac Escalade with two passengers when attempting to cross the border from Canada into New York around 7:20 p.m., according to the Associated Press.
“The men admitted to border agents that they possessed marijuana and firearms. State police, who were called in, said Black was found with marijuana and officers discovered a Glock 9mm pistol in the vehicle,” the article said. “The 21-year-old rapper from Miramar, Florida was arrested on charges of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.”

Jason Momoa, half-bearded.

Again and again, human beings prove we are the worst thing to happen to Earth since that big meteor that killed all the dinosaurs. We hunted dodos and black rhinos to extinction, we’re burning up our beautiful little globe, we put this guy in charge of an entire, real country, and now, our latest infraction: We have, thanks to our overconsumption of plastic, forced Aquaman actor and Scrunchie King Jason Momoa to shave his luscious beard. Ugh.
In a video released Wednesday, Momoa goes out into the wilderness (scrunchie in hair), where there’s more room to shave his glorious face bush, one stringy little handful at a time.
“Good-bye Drogo!” he says, throwing one patch of hair into the wind, bidding farewell to his deceased (and bearded) Game of Thrones character.
“I just want to do this to bring awareness that plastics are killing our planet,” he then explains, while shaving the right side of his face. “And I think I have a solution. I don’t wanna bitch about it. It’s only one thing that can really help our planet and save our planet.”
What is this one thing? A new line of aluminum water cans. As Momoa explains, while trimming away locks of his face pubes, “About 75 percent of all aluminum that’s ever been used is still in circulation today, and it’s 100 percent recyclable. So you drink the can, and in about 60 days, it’ll be back.”
That does sound good. Once his whole beard is off (RIP), bare-faced Momoa lays out the water cans in the dirt, cracks one open, and takes a big gulp. “Just water, but I feel good about it,” he says.
He then says, “There’s a change coming, and it’s aluminum,” even though the real change seemed to be his de-bearding.
The canned water seems to be a promotion with the Ball Corporation, but it is not yet clear what the line is called, or whether it is available for purchase. One thing is clear: We messed up, and now Aquaman doesn’t have a beard. Damn.

The actress best known for her role on the TV series, "Angel," revealed that she accidentally dropped and injured the 5-year-old son she shares with husband Jason Biggs.
"On Saturday evening, I dropped my son on his head causing him to fracture his skull and landing him in the ICU," Mollen wrote in the caption of a photo of her holding her son on her Instagram account. "I am forever grateful to Lenox hill downtown and @nyphospital for their immediate response and aid."
Mollen and Biggs have two boys: 5-year-old Sid and 1-year-old Lazlo. The couple obscures their children's faces when they post about them on social media.
It was Sid who was hurt, and Mollen offered a "Thank you to all of the nurses, neurologists, pediatricians, residents, cafeteria staff and brave women that keep the visitor's bathrooms clean."
She also thanked Biggs and offered a status report on their son.
"It has been a traumatic week but Sid is home now taking things slowly and recovering nicely," Mollen wrote. "He is also eating a lot of chocolate dipped ice cream cones and plans to try cherry dipped soon."
