Alyssa Milano Calls for 'Sex Strike' Over Georgia Anti-Abortion Law - TMZ

Alyssa Milano Calls for Sex Strike Until Anti-Abortion Law is Repealed

5/11/2019 6:59 AM PDT

Alyssa Milano has declared all-out war on Georgia ... urging women to stop having sex until Georgia repeals its law severely limiting abortion.

In case you haven't heard, Georgia is the latest state -- there are 5 others -- that prohibits abortion after doctors can detect a heartbeat in the fetus. Heartbeats are usually detected after 6 weeks, and many women don't even know they're pregnant until later.

Alyssa says, "Our reproductive rights are being erased.  Until women have legal control over our own bodies we just cannot risk pregnancy ... JOIN ME by not having sex until we get bodily autonomy back.  I'm calling for a #SexStrike.  Pass it on."

Milano's call to arms is reminiscent of ancient Greece and Spike Lee. In famous Greek literature, a character convinces women to refuse sex with their husbands until they end a war. As for Spike, he suggested the same remedy for gang violence in the film, "Chi-Raq."

There's also been a movie to boycott the film industry in Georgia until the law is repealed, but this clearly affects more people.

The other states that have similar laws are Ohio, Mississippi, Kentucky, Iowa and North Dakota. The Georgia law takes effect in January.

Wu, 37, also reportedly commented on “Fresh Off the Boat’s” Instagram account which announced the renewal news.

“Dislike,” Wu wrote under the post, according to Variety.

After fans appeared confused by the star’s reaction, Wu set the record straight in follow-up tweets.

“That was not a rampage, it was just how I normally talk. I say f--- a lot. I love the word. Y’all are making a lot of assumptions about what I was saying. And no, it’s not what it’s about. Not it’s not...what this is all about. Stop assuming,” she wrote.

She followed up that tweet with another explaining her reaction.

“Todays tweets were on the heels of rough day & were ill timed w/the news of the show. Plz know, Im so grateful for FOTB [Fresh Off the Boat] renewal. I love the cast & crew. Im proud to be part of it. For all the fans support, thank u & for all who support my casual use of the word f--- thank u too,” she concluded.

Constance Wu says her outburst after her show's renewal was badly timed - CNN

The ABC hit comedy, which follows a family adjusting to suburban Orlando life after moving from Chinatown, announced Friday that it's returning for Season 6.
But after the show posted news about its renewal on social media, Wu had a stunning reaction. "So upset right now that I'm literally crying. Ugh," she tweeted, followed by expletives.
On the show's Instagram account, commenters called her out after she apparently posted "Dislike" under a post about the show returning for another season.
"Saying 'dislike' to this news is a slap in the face to everyone who works behind the scenes to make your show as powerful and groundbreaking as it truly is. Because the show was renewed an entire crew gets another year taking care of their families, putting their kids through college, getting medical insurance and saving for retirement. This reeks of someone out of touch and ungrateful," one user said.

Later, the actress attempted to clarify her messages in a series of tweets.
"Y'all are making a lot of assumptions about what I was saying," she tweeted. "And no, it's not what it's about. No it's not ... what this is all about. Stop assuming."
Wu didn't delete her earlier tweets and defended them by saying they were "on the heels of rough day & were ill timed (with) the news of the show." She thanked fans for their support.
"(Please) know, I'm so grateful for FOTB renewal," she posted. "I love the cast & crew. I'm proud to be a part of it."
Wu starred in the blockbuster "Crazy Rich Asians" last summer. The movie had a major impact on American culture, and made $239 million at the box office.

Alvin Sargent Dies: ‘Ordinary People’ & ‘Julia’ Oscar Winner Who Also Penned Three ‘Spider-Man’ Films Was 92 - Deadline

Alvin Sargent, who won Oscars for writing Ordinary People and Julia and was nominated for Paper Moon, has died of natural causes in Seattle. He was 92. Sargent also won WGA Awards for all three of those films and received the guild’s career honor, the Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement, in 1991.

Sargent penned more than two dozen feature screenplays from the 1960s into the 2010s, most recently The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), Spider-Man 3 (2007) and Spider-Man 2 (2004). His feature credits also include What About Bob? (1991), Other People’s Money (1991) and Unfaithful (2002).

He began his screenwriting career in television, penning episodes of such 1960s drama series Ben Casey, Route 66, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and Run for Your Life. He also wrote episodes of ABC’s short-lived Paper Moon spinoff series in which Jodie Foster played the role that won Tatum O’Neal a Supporting Actress Oscar.

Born on April 12, 1927, in Philadelphia, Sargent had been working as an ad salesman at Variety in the early 1950s while aspiring to act. He’d been on the job for three weeks when he was offered a non-speaking role in a little film called From Here to Eternity. The trade pub granted him a leave of absence to shoot the movie, and when director Fred Zinnemann was unhappy with another actor’s line reading, Sargent was ordered to replace him. His character would announce the beginning of World War II and its first American casualty.

Julia

Zinnemann would win the Best Director Oscar for that classic film, which also scored Best Picture and six other Academy Awards. Nearly a quarter-century later, Sargent penned Julia (1977), which won him his first Oscar and earned Zinnemann a seventh nom for Best Director. It starred Jane Fonda, Vanessa Redgrave and Hal Holbrook and introduced Meryl Streep to movie audiences.

After his stint on From Here to Eternity, Sargent returned to Variety but proved rather lousy as selling ads. In his off hours, he wrote stories in his basement — one of which a friend sent to lit agent Sam Adams. He got the young scribe a TV writing job, and Sargent wrote the script. Then he didn’t hear from Adams — or anyone else in Hollywood — for more than a year.

On Christmas Eve 1961, Sargent got an unexpected call. It was Adams asking if the scribe could do an emergency rewrite for one of the vacationing writers of CBS’ long-running series General Electric Theater. Sargent delivered the rewrite four days later and never went another day as an unemployed writer. His final script was for The Amazing Spider Man, which he finished at age 85.

Ordinary People

Sargent won his second Oscar for Ordinary People, ensemble drama about a family’s grief over the death of a son that puts their relationships to the test. Starring Donald Sutherland, Mary Tyler Moore and Timothy Hutton, it also would win Best Picture and Best Director for Robert Redford.

In between he also penned features including Gambit (1966), The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds (1972), Bobby Deerfield (1974), Straight Time (1978), Dominick and Eugene (1988), Bogus (1996) and Anywhere but Here (1999), among others.

Ever the scribe, Sargent was quoted as saying, “When I die, I’m going to have written on my tombstone, ‘Finally a plot.'”

His older brother was the prolific comedy writer Herb Sargent, an original member of the Saturday Night Live staff who co-created “Weekend Update” with Chevy Chase, won several Emmys and also wrote for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Herb Sargent died in 2005.

Alvin Sargent was married to Joan Camden from 1953-75, and he later was married to producer and Stand Up to Cancer co-founder Laura Ziskin until her death in 2011. Survivors include daughters Jennifer Sargent and Amanda Sargent, several grandchildren and a great-grandchild, as well as Ziskin’s daughter Julia Barry.

A memorial service will be held in Los Angeles, but no date has been announced. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to Stand Up to Cancer, which Laura Ziskin co-founded in 2008.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Welcome Baby No. 4 Via Surrogate - E! Online

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are now a happy family of six.

Their baby boy has officially arrived via surrogate, the reality star confirmed on Twitter on Friday afternoon. "He's here and he's perfect!" the new mom of four tweeted.

The couple has not yet shared the little one's name, but fans are excited to learn the moniker they choose.

It was reported that the surrogate had gone into labor on Thursday. Kourtney Kardashian also spilled the beans on Friday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Kris Jenner was a guest on the show, and the Poosh founder surprised the momager by bringing out six of her grandchildren. She also let her know there was another one literally on the way.

"My mom doesn't even know this, but Kim's surrogate went into labor," Kourtney revealed. "So, she's at the hospital." Kris, who was completely shocked by the news, said, "No! What are we doing sitting here?! Come on, Ellen!"

Kim and Kanye announced they were expecting their fourth child in January, nearly a year after they welcomed daughter Chicago West. While some parents would recoil at the idea of having toddlers so close in age, the A-list pair is all too happy to take on the challenge. "Kim and Kanye have known for awhile and are very excited. They had one male embryo left and are thrilled it has worked out," a source previously explained. "Kim always wanted four kids and having two boys and two girls feels perfect. They were very happy with the entire experience the first time and are so grateful to have one more baby."

Plus, the source said they want their four kiddos to be close in age.

Ahead of the newborn's arrival, Kimye completed some major preparations to make sure their home was in ship-shape for the homecoming of their baby. A source told E! News in early March, "At this point they've been working on the baby's nursery at their home and putting all that stuff together."

In addition, the A-list couple had a big discussion about transportation for their family of six. "They're also trying to think about getting a new car—with four kids, two adults and a couple nannies, they definitely need to invest in a car that suits the entire family so that's an ongoing discussion," the insider explained.

While having another baby can be a daunting prospect for any parent, Kim shared that she was actually very "calm" ahead of the little one's birth. She told Jimmy Fallon, "I heard that parents of four are the most enlightened and calm of all parents."

It certainly helped that her baby shower was a zen CBD-themed celebration. Guests enjoyed a relaxing lounge area, took part in a sound bath, made CBD-infused body oils and bath salts, and joined a flower arrangement tutorial.

Kim joked at the party that she needed the zen vibes to soothe her worries ahead of the baby's arrival, but, let's be real: The reality star is basically a seasoned professional when it comes to being a parent.

Congratulations, Kim and Kanye!

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcome fourth child together, a baby boy - Page Six

North, Saint and Chicago West have a new little brother.

Kim Kardashian, 38, and Kanye West, 41, have welcomed their fourth child together, a baby boy born via surrogate, she announced on Twitter on Friday.

“He’s here and he’s perfect!” she wrote.

“He’s also Chicago’s twin lol I’m sure he will change a lot but now he looks just like her,” she later added.

She didn’t reveal her newborn’s name.

Kourtney Kardashian had revealed on “Ellen” on Thursday that the couple’s surrogate had gone into labor.

Rumors about another baby on the way swirled in early January, though the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star didn’t confirm the news until the middle of the month  while appearing on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.”

“Are you working on another child?” Cohen asked.

“We are,” she responded.

“It’s a boy, I think it’s been out there,” she added. “I got drunk at our Christmas Eve party and told some people. I can’t remember who I told because I never get drunk.”

A woman named La’Reina Haynes carried Chicago for Kim and Kanye, but the couple used a different surrogate this time around because Haynes was pregnant with a child of her own, as Page Six previously reported. Kim gave birth to her two older children.

Although 1-year-old Chicago was too young to understand that a new baby was coming, the E! reality star said in January that 5-year-old North and 3-year-old Saint were looking forward to the addition.

“They are excited,” Kim said. “I mean, I don’t know if they don’t feel it as much because they don’t see my big belly and probably hear me complaining every two seconds. But, we do talk about it a lot, so I think they are really excited. I think my son, I don’t know how he is going to react because he doesn’t get it yet, but my daughter is really excited.”
