The Bachelorette's Hannah Brown Does Not Deserve This, Lukes - E! NEWS

There have been many moments throughout this season of The Bachelorette so far when we have been in awe.

Not only is Hannah a particularly good Bachelorette, but she mostly has a really good-seeming group of guys. Many of them are likable, they're treating her well, and they're being kind to each other, mostly. They also immediately identified the problems in the group, and for the most part, Hannah seems to be on the exact same page they are.

It was immediately clear this season that she was attracted to Luke Parker, and it was also pretty immediately clear that Luke Parker is one of those guys who doesn't fare well on a show where the whole point is that one woman dates multiple men. He declared he was falling in love on like the first (group!) date, and clearly has some issues, which even Hannah could see.

Tonight, he was given the opportunity to play rugby, and rugby is a rough sport in every single way, so Luke P. got really rough. He may or may not have tackled Luke S. for no reason, but no one was quite sure what exactly happened.

Whatever happened, it took up like 80% of the episode, and one thing became very clear: Hannah really likes Luke P. Because if she didn't, he would have already been gone, and also because she literally said her feelings for Luke P. were the strongest during tonight's episode.

It makes it so so hard to watch a season when the frontrunner is, at the very least, being painted as a villain, and at the very most, is very much a villain, with all the other guys turned against him, and all their time spent sharing their feelings on Luke P., while all Hannah can do is be confused and annoyed about the whole situation with Luke P., because she's got feelings for a guy who apparently sucks.

This is just to say that we are tired, and this whole thing is really impeding our enjoyment of the delightful Hannah Brown, because all she can do is ask for the truth and be annoyed. We fear Luke P. is going to last a little too long for our taste, and we're going to continue to have way too many guys in our ranking gallery whose ranking is sort of random based on the fact that they got no screentime in which they weren't talking about Luke P.

You can see that ranking below, though obviously things will be changing next week when we actually get to a rose ceremony.

Now let's all just dream of lobsters and Tyler C. while we discuss which guys are currently at the front of the pack (in our opinion, because you bet Luke P. is last).

The Bachelorette airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

John Oliver explains medical devices' FDA loopholes on Last Week Tonight (VIDEO). - Slate Magazine

Though it’s not often a late-night segment requires a safe word, John Oliver warned viewers that Last Week Tonight’s latest on medical devices is grisly enough to warrant one. Still, if you could stomach the show’s guts-deep investigation into autopsies two weeks ago, you’ll probably be fine, and Oliver’s cries of “Opossum” will give you plenty of warning when things are about to get icky.

Grosser than the detailed descriptions of malfunctioning hip replacements and vaginal mesh are the FDA loopholes that allow faulty medical implants to go to market. Watch as Oliver explains the difference between “FDA-cleared” and “FDA-approved” and demonstrates how participants in clinical studies are manipulated into giving positive answers on surveys.

Jane Krakowski makes an appearance, too, to deliver a warning: “Treat medical devices like guys who have played Batman. Some are great, but new ones aren’t necessarily better, and there are a few you definitely don’t want to let inside your body.”

Post-End Game, Russo Brothers to adapt Magic: The Gathering for Netflix - Ars Technica

"Being able to help bring these stories to life through animation is a true passion project for us,” Joe and Anthony Russo said in a joint statement.

Avengers: End Game might have stopped short short of toppling Avatar as the highest-grossing film worldwide, but it has still raked in a staggering $2.71 billion globally. And now Deadline Hollywood reports that the next project for co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo will be an adaptation of the hugely popular and influential card game Magic: The Gathering into an animated series for Netflix.

Clearly Netflix is looking to tap into that lucrative Russo brothers box office mojo, and who can blame them? The brothers have produced "four Marvel Studios hits in five years with $6.61 billion in global box office," per Deadline Hollywood. Octopie Network will be co-producing with Bardel Entertainment overseeing the animation.

“Our goal is to not only tell a compelling story leveraging Magic: The Gathering’s incredible body of work, but to also push the medium and perception of storytelling through animation,” Octopie CEO Isaac Krauss told the site. “This series will cross the genres of suspenseful thriller, horror, and drama with deeply developed characters the likes of which are not often seen in animation.”

Invented by combinatorial mathematician Richard Garfield in 1993, Magic: The Gathering casts players as planeswalkers, spell-casting wizards that traverse the Magic multiverse doing battle by summoning various creatures, artifacts, and elemental powers via collectible trading cards. Ars' own Aurich Lawson—an avid Magic player since before the first official expansion pack, Arabian Nights (so he's got the cred, y'all)—calls it "poker for nerds who are worried plain poker might make them too cool and socially acceptable." There are now 20 million players worldwide, dedicated tournaments, and over 20 billion Magic cards in circulation, along with spinoff comics, games, novels, and online short stories.

We don't have much in the way of details as to what the animated series will be about; it's early days yet, and the future series doesn't even have a title. But the teaser art pictured above features "Chandra Nalaar, a fiery spellslinger from the plane of Kaladesh who has become one of Magic’s most recognizable heroes," per io9. Apparently the Russos will “oversee the creation of an all new storyline and expand on the stories of the Planeswalkers and will see the heroes and villains of the universe contend with stakes larger than any one world can hold.”

The Russo brothers, avid gamers themselves, said in a joint statement, “We have been huge fans and players of Magic: The Gathering for as long as it has been around, so being able to help bring these stories to life through animation is a true passion project for us.”

“Spent the day in the hospital with my baby,” Jenner, 21, captioned a photo of Stormi napping on her chest. “She had an allergic reaction but is 100% okay now and we are home.”

The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star did not reveal what caused the reaction, but empathized with mothers whose kids are ill.

She continued, “Nothing else matters when these things happen. God bless all the moms with sick babies. I’m sending so much love and positive energy your way.”

Stormi’s father Travis Scott did not comment on his baby’s health on social media.

Less than two months ago, Jenner’s nephew, Saint West, was also in the hospital for an allergic reaction.

Kris Jenner revealed Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s 3-year-old son discovered he might be allergic to grass on a trip to Palm Springs.

Here's why Henry Ford II's son isn't too excited about Matt Damon's 'Ford v Ferrari' film - Fox News

The first trailer for the much anticipated Matt Damon and Christian Bale film “Ford v Ferrari” has been released and given at least one thumbs down … from someone named Ford.

The film chronicles Ford’s quest to beat Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1960s with the help of legendary racer Carroll Shelby, played by Damon, who taps driver Ken Miles, portrayed by Bale, to get the job done. The trailer shows actor Sydney Lett as Ford Chairman Henry Ford II telling Shelby to “go to war,” and plenty of driving sequences. In the closing clip, Shelby takes Ford for a spin in the GT40 racecar and appears to scare the executive so badly that he screams and breaks down in tears.

The late Ford’s son apparently isn’t thrilled with the portrayal. Under his handle Sweepstakes1901, Edsel Ford II wrote:

Based on this trailer, I think I might miss opening night! I knew Henry Ford II and Tracey Letts is no Henry Ford II.”

Edsel added that “I was at Le Mans in 1966,” when he was 17 years old.

Edsel, 17, accompanied his father to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966 and met with members of the team, including Ford racing director Leo Beebe.

(Spoiler alert: That was the year Ford first beat Ferrari at Le Mans, leading to a streak of four overall victories at the event.)

Edsel has held several executive positions at the company founded by his great-grandfather and as a current member of the board of directors remains heavily involved in the company’s racing efforts. In May, he was voted to receive the 2020 Landmark Award for Outstanding Contributions to NASCAR for his work in the series.

“Ford v Ferrari” is helmed by “Logan” director James Mangrove and is scheduled to open November 15. Damon and Bale acted as honorary starters at this year's Indy 500 to promote the film.

Godzilla sequel tops US box office but is it a monster hit? - BBC News

Godzilla: King of the Monsters knocked Disney's Aladdin off the top of the US box office chart at the weekend, taking an estimated $49m (£38.7m).

Despite claiming the top spot, analysts described the debut of the monster remake disappointing.

Costing $200m (£158m) to make, reviews have been lukewarm for the film, which stars Vera Farmiga and Kyle Chandler.

Its total for the three-day weekend was far off its predecessor's debut of $93m (£73.6m) back in 2014.

The film's plot centres around a group of eco-terrorists who steal a sonar device developed by scientist Emma (Farmiga) to control Godzilla, with her ex-husband (Chandler) recruited to track it down.

The new iteration is Stranger Things' Millie Bobbie Brown's blockbuster debut.

Speaking to BBC News, film critic Karen Krizanovich said: "Godzilla is one for fans only... ignore the human story and marvel at the monsters, great aeroplanes and fab supporting cast.

"Godzilla physically is his largest... and in every film iteration he grows bigger. The film was disappointing but it was Gojira [Godzilla's original name) and it's still a great franchise, if only to hear his signature roar."

Fellow critic Jason Solomons added: "The brand is still strong in that kids everywhere want to see Godzilla. And while this instalment is a mess on screen you get the feeling everyone's waiting for the big contest of Godzilla vs Kong, which is coming soon...

"So as a filler, this does a job but it should also serve as a lesson in getting the tone right - it needs more B-movie corniness - and in knowing that all anyone wants to see is monsters clashing, not humans whining."

Other reviewers had even more reservations.

The Guardian's Simran Hans described it as "beastly in all the wrong ways", giving it one star out of five.

Ben Travis, writing for Empire Online, was equally scathing: "What you're left with is a catastrophically dumb, thunderously boring blockbuster as numbing and unsatisfying as the worst Transformers movies - even one hilariously nutty sub-aquatic development can't liven things up."

But not everyone was unimpressed.

Collider's editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub described it as "awesome", adding: "It's everything I wanted last movie to be but wasn't."

Godzilla on film

The original Japanese film, Gojira, was released by studio Toho in 1954 and two years later, an Americanised version came out in the US.

Gojira spawned a series of follow-up films including Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla Raids Again and Godzilla versus King Ghidorah.

More recent films in the franchise include Godzilla: Final Wars and Shin Godzilla.

Among the best known foreign versions, Tristar released Godzilla in 1997 but it was poorly received.

Gareth Edwards' Legendary Pictures film, also titled simply Godzilla, was a box office and critical success, hence the new sequel - directed by Michael Dougherty - getting the green light.

Godzilla vs Kong is due to come out next year.

The rest of the top five at the North American box office was rounded out by Guy Ritchie's Aladdin, in second place with $42.3m (£33.4m), and Elton John biopic Rocketman in third, taking $25m (£19.7m).

Fourth place went to thriller Ma, with $18.3m (£14.5m), and starring Oscar winner Octavia Spencer.

Keanu Reeves' John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum took $11.1m (£8.7m) to claim fifth spot.

Kylie Jenner Opened Up About Stormi Being Hospitalised - BuzzFeed

Kylie Jenner has revealed that her 16-month-old daughter, Stormi Webster, was hospitalised over the weekend.

Kylie shared the news on her Instagram Story, firstly posting a video of her backyard alongside a caption expressing gratitude and announcing that she felt "blessed beyond words".

"Blessed beyond words," she wrote, "Thank you God. I believe in being a reflection of what you'd like to receive. If you want love, give love. If you want success, wish success."

And Kylie followed this video up with a photo of a sleeping Stormi, and a caption explaining the traumatic ordeal they'd experienced over the weekend.

She wrote: "Spent the day in the hospital with my baby. She had an allergic reaction but is 100% okay now and we are home."

"Nothing else matters when these things happen," Kylie continued, "God bless all the moms with sick babies. I'm sending so much love and positive energy your way."

This is the second time in two months that a Kardashian/Jenner child has been hospitalised due to an allergic reaction. Back in late April, Kim's son Saint West was rushed to the ER during a family vacation to Palm Springs.

We're glad Stormi and Saint are both OK. 💖
