Why Everybody Is Wrong About Kate Middleton Being a 'Social Climber' - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Meghan Markle is often dragged through the media for being a “social climber.” Now, some people are saying Kate Middleton is the bigger social climber.

Why do fans of the royal family feel the need to argue over which duchess is better? Supporting women should mean supporting all women, but let’s take a look at their argument. Is Kate Middleton really a social climber? Does it even matter?

How Kate Middleton and Prince William met

Kate Middleton

Kate met Prince William when they were both attending St. Andrews University. The pair were introduced through mutual friends, but the magic didn’t happen until William saw Kate walk down the runway in a charity fashion show. Kate wore a see-through, black mesh dress. The prince turned toward his friend and whispered, “Wow, Kate’s Hot!” From that point on, he began to pursue her.

Why some say Kate Middleton is a ‘social climber’

In a video circling Twitter, royal commentator Elaine Lui- who many in the comments claim is a known Meghan supporter, claims Kate is the real ‘social climber.’ “If we’re talking about royal social climbing, it’s not just Meghan Markle,” she said, before launching into a long list of reasons why Kate pursued William.

Most of what she said is unverified, like claiming Kate switched schools to get closer to the prince and then stopped hanging out with her “common” friends. Kate did change schools, but we don’t know her reasoning. And many say the timing just doesn’t add up. Kate would have had to make her final school decision before the palace announced which school William would be attending.

The claim that she doesn’t spend time with people outside the royal circle is false as well. Kate has a large group of friends, many who she has known since school.

Why the whole ‘social climber’ argument is silly

It doesn’t appear that Kate spent a whole bunch of her time pursuing William. She probably did find him attractive — who can blame her for that — but she didn’t follow him around like many of the other girls did. It wasn’t until William began pursuing her that their romantic relationship began.

Even so, what if Kate had been the one to pursue William? Would that really be such a big deal? Many women make the first move in a relationship, and we usually don’t bat an eye. Some say it’s because she wanted to be a part of the royal family, but many people are attracted to power- it’s human nature. Especially for a woman to be attracted to a powerful man. That’s biology.

Nobody forced Prince William to marry Kate

So what if Kate was first attracted to William because he was the prince? She didn’t force him to marry her. They have to truly care about each other to make it through the ups and downs of a relationship. It may have started from an attraction to royalty, but you can’t build a successful relationship on that.

Kate has been married to William for eight years and they have three children, yet they still seem very happy. If all Kate wanted was to be a part of royalty, she would have grown sick of it by now. With all the pressure that public life brings, we would see some cracks. The same goes for Meghan. It shouldn’t matter who started the relationship. It really doesn’t matter if Kate or Meghan is a social climber, (we think they’re not) but, it doesn’t make a difference in the long run. They’re happy with their husbands, and that’s all that counts.

Will Meghan Markle Have to Change Her Parenting Style Because of the Royal Family? - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Royal fans are overjoyed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have finally welcomed their first child. The newborn, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, is absolutely perfect. On the day he was born, his father described him as being “to die for.”

Whenever a new baby is born into a royal family, it is always an exciting event. Royal betters speculate about the specific details for months on end, and before Meghan delivered the baby, there were many people who actually thought the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be having a girl. We were pleasantly surprised when the news was announced that Meghan and Harry had, in fact, welcomed a baby boy, and suddenly, everyone was wondering what his name could be.

When it was found out what the newborn’s moniker was, there was talk over how fitting it was for the new royal baby. Meghan seems to have definite plans for how she is going to approach parenting, raising the question as to if she will have to change her parenting style because of the royal family.

Meghan Markle’s friend says she will be hands-on and strict

According to Meghan’s close friend, actress Janina Gavankar, she will be a great mother. Although she is expected to be hands-on with Archie, she will also be strict. It is in keeping with Meghan’s personality that she will definitely be low-maintenance, just as her friend is predicting.

Janina revealed that she and Meghan have been talking about the journey of motherhood for over a decade, further proving that Meghan is just meant to be a mother. The actress said that Meghan is “practical,” which will be reflected in her parenting style.

The royal family has protocol for raising children

Everyone knows that parenthood involves making a lot of personal decisions. Each family chooses to raise children in their own unique way, doing things that they feel are right for their family, and making choices as they see fit. The royal family, however, takes a somewhat different approach.

Royal parents are expected to use a nanny to take care of their children, and there are many other rules as well. Boys are to wear shorts at all times, the child must be baptized, and senior members of the family tend to give their children traditional royal names. Prince William and Kate Middleton have followed just about every rule that is expected of them, however, Meghan and Harry seem to have other plans.

What rules have Meghan Markle and Prince Harry broken?

When it came to the birth of their baby, Meghan and Harry opted to do things their own way, and fans definitely admire them for it. Meghan neither gave birth at the Lindo Wing as Kate Middleton did nor did the couple emerge from the hospital with the newborn in their arms. Archie also has only one middle name as opposed to the typical two or three that royals have. Also, it was even thought that Meghan and Harry wouldn’t be enlisting the help of a nanny, something that is almost unheard of for royals.

Will Meghan Markle have to change her parenting style because of the royal family?

It does not appear that she will. Meghan likes to do things according to her own agenda, and it is not likely that she is going to change what she believes in when it comes to raising baby Archie. She and Harry are planning on giving the baby a “quiet” and “normal” life, and it is hard to imagine Meghan letting anyone tell her to do otherwise. The Duke and Duchess have specific plans for parenting, and we can’t wait to see how they surprise us next.

Pauley Perrette will never return to 'NCIS,' claims she is 'terrified' of former co-star Mark Harmon - Fox News

Pauley Perrette is making it clear: she is never returning to "NCIS."

The actress, 50, took to Twitter on Friday to explain to her followers that she is "not coming back" to the CBS procedural drama "ever," claiming she is "terrified" of former co-star Mark Harmon.

“NO I AM NOT COMING BACK! EVER! (Please stop asking?),” she wrote before alleging: “I am terrified of Harmon and him attacking me. I have nightmares about it."

'NCIS' ACTRESS PAULEY PERRETTE CLAIMS SHE LEFT THE SHOW OVER 'MULTIPLE PHYSICAL ASSAULTS'

"I have a new show that is SAFE AND HAPPY!" she added. "You’ll love it! #HappyPlace Love y’all!”

Reps for CBS and Harmon did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment.

PAULEY PERRETTE LEAVING 'NCIS'

Perrette left "NCIS" in May 2018 after 16 years on the series. She alleged she exited the show over "multiple physical assaults."

As previously reported, days after her character forensic scientist Abby Sciuto's final appearance on the beloved procedural, Perrette released a series of ominous tweets. In them, she alleged abuse on the set that she claimed was being covered up by a “machine” run by “a very rich, very powerful” publicity entity.

WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES BELOW

On Friday, Perrette posted pictures of an individual -- who she claims was her crew member on "NCIS" -- with a bruised eye and stitches.

"You think I didn’t expect blow back? You got me wrong. THIS happened To my crew member and I fought like hell to keep it from happening again! To protect my crew!" she wrote alongside the photos, before alleging: "And then I was physically assaulted for saying NO!?and I lost my job."

Although Perrette did not share when the alleged assault happened, last May The Wrap reported that in 2016 a crew member was bitten by Harmon's dog, which ultimately required stitches. According to the outlet, citing sources, the actress "objected when the dog was allowed to return" to set following the incident and "the tension between the two stars" became "bad."

PAULEY PERRETTE THANKS CBS FOR ITS RESPONSE TO HER ASSAULT ALLEGATIONS

In a statement to Fox News from CBS at the time, the television studio said: “Pauley Perrette had a terrific run on ‘NCIS’ and we are all going to miss her. Over a year ago, Pauley came to us with a workplace concern. We took the matter seriously and worked with her to find a resolution. We are committed to a safe work environment on all our shows."

In response, Perrette took to Twitter to thank CBS for its statement, indicating that it wasn't to blame for her assault allegations.

"I want to thank my studio and network CBS They have always been so good to me and always had my back," she wrote.

At the time, CBS would not comment on any follow-up questions about the nature of the workplace complaint or exactly what kind of resolution was met.

Fox News' Julius Young and Tyler McCarthy contributed to this report.

The Duchess Of Sussex Made Her First Royal Appearance Since Welcoming Baby Archie - BuzzFeed News

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, made her first royal appearance since giving birth to son Archie last month. The 37-year-old joined other members of the royal family on Saturday for Trooping The Colour, the Queen's annual birthday parade.

Meghan is wearing a third ring on her ring finger - a delicate pave-set band - alongside her engagement and wedding rings.

The couple, who celebrated their first wedding anniversary three weeks ago, welcomed their first child together on May 6. Aside from this appearance when the new parents introduced Archie to the world two days after his birth, the Duchess has remained out of the public eye.

Ahead of his arrival, the American president was accused of describing the LA born Duchess as "nasty", which he denied. Meghan had described the President as "misogynistic" in an old interview from 2016.

Anyway, it looks like Meghan may be back on the royal scene — at least for the big family occasions.

Box Office: 'X-Men: Dark Phoenix' Bombs With Disasterous $14 Million Friday - Forbes

19 years ago, X-Men kick-started (with a little help from Spawn and Blade) the modern comic book superhero movie boom with a $20 million opening day. Last night, Dark Phoenix ended the franchise with a whimper, earning just $14 million on its first day. That translates into an $8 million opening day in ticket prices the day Bryan Singer's X-Men opened in theaters.

Generally speaking, a movie scoring $14 million on a single day wouldn't exactly be a disaster in the making. But when you're dealing with a poorly-reviewed franchise title whose initial installment opened with $20 million 19 years ago sans any 3-D or IMAX boost, yeah, that's a loss. Dark Phoenix scored the lowest opening day for an X-Men movie in franchise history, yes even lower than the (unfairly derided at the time) $20 million Friday for The Wolverine.

Barring a miracle, this is going to open below The Wolverine ($53 million in 2013), X-Men ($54 million in 2000) and X-Men: First Class ($55 million in 2011) to nab the lowest Fri-Sun debut in X-Men history. I don't care that it isn't the top movie of the day or the weekend. The Secret Life of Pets 2 (which didn't exactly hit pay dirt last night either) was always going to win the weekend. But the numbers at play are tragic.

What we're seeing is not a somewhat disappointing series finale for the 19-year-old (and never outright rebooted) X-Men series but a performance relatively on par with Fantastic Four back in 2015. If you recall, Fantastic Four was projected to open with $40 million in August of 2015. But poor "this movie is bad and not fun for your or for your kids" reviews, an overestimation of the public's appetite for the Fantastic Four brand and director Josh Trank infamously trashing the compromised theatrical cut on Twitter just before opening day, led to a $25.7 million launch.

Tracking is not an exact science, but that was a 36% difference. And yes, 65% of Dark Phoenix's projected $50 million launch would indeed be $32 million, which is close to where this one might end up on Sunday. That a fabled and groundbreaking franchise would end this way is not a little heartbreaking, even if many of the mistakes made were by their own hands.

A 2.5x multiplier from a $14 million opening day would be $35 million for the weekend, which would be around $21 million back in 2000 (on par with The Patriot and Scary Movie 2). Once again, poor reviews and an overestimation in the brand sans its popular character/actor combos (Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, etc.) are to blame. The lack of butts in the seats movie stars (save for Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Chastain in comparatively small roles) didn't help either.

The other factor, which I've been warning about for years, is the choice to redo a comic book arc that had already been done in movie form. Hardcore fans may have wanted a second go at the Phoenix Saga, but general audiences already saw that play out in X-Men: The Last Stand, which sold more tickets domestically ($235 million in 2006 in 2-D) than any X-Men movie save for Deadpool.

It didn't help that everyone knew that the franchise was going to be rebooted into the MCU after Disney's purchase of Fox. To be fair, had the movie been better/better received or offered something new, that would have been mere trivia (or a factor in its favor). Logan would have still thrived under the shadow of such news.

Folks didn't show up for Dark Phoenix because they didn't want to see Dark Phoenix and the mere prospect of "Oh, another X-Men movie" with this cast/continuity wasn't itself an event. Comparatively speaking, audiences didn't think it looked good and the reviews confirmed that it wasn't very good. The X-Men as a brand is much less of a big deal than when it was in the early days when it was among the only games in town.

We can do long-term projections tomorrow. It may find some salvation overseas, but it's not doing scorched Earth numbers in China or anywhere else. And reshoots allegedly sent the budget soaring over/under $200 million, so this isn't like The Wolverine which could be a solid hit at $412 million on a $120 million budget.

X-Men movies, even the generally good ones, aren't very leggy. We're probably looking at a best-case-scenario of $97 million domestic and a doomsday scenario of around $73 million. With a continual focus on the Xavier v Magneto: Dawn Of Ideologies stories at the expense of every other narrative (or character-specific) avenue, the franchise about evolution refused to evolve. Barring a fluke, it died yesterday.
