BET Awards 2019: A list of winners and key moments - Aljazeera.com

The 2019 BET Awards featured a number of contemporary pop and rap artists who have been dominating the charts.

But the show, held in Los Angeles on Sunday night, belonged to the artists viewed as icons in the black community, including singer Mary J Blige, filmmaker Tyler Perry and the late rapper Nipsey Hussle.

The BET Awards celebrate African Americans and other American minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment.

Among the key moments was when Hussle, a respected and beloved community activist in South Los Angeles who was shot dead on March 31, posthumously earned the Humanitarian Award.

"Nipsey is such an important part of our community, in particular the fact that he focused on servicing his community, staying in his community, and trying to uplift the community he was a part of," BET Networks President Scott M Mills said.

"We really wanted to recognise him here in LA," he added.

The audience also erupted in cheers for media mogul Tyler Perry, who earned the Ultimate Icon Award.

While Childish Gambino, who did not attend the show, won the top prize - Video of the year - for This is America, Beyonce Knowles was named best female R&B/pop artist, and Bruno Mars won best male R&B/pop artist.

'KUWTK' Just Aired "Evidence" That Jordyn Woods Lied on Red Table Talk - Cosmopolitan.com

  • Keeping Up with the Kardashians finally aired Tristan Thompson and KhloΓ© Kardashian's cheating scandal with Jordyn Woods.
  • Fans think the show proves Jordyn Woods lied about what happened with Tristan during her appearance on Red Table Talk.

Welp, it finally happened: the Tristan Thompson / KhloΓ© Kardashian cheating scandal—aka the episode that will earn Kris Jenner an Emmy for Best Performance in a Drama—just aired on E! and it was...a lot!

Not only did the show casually reveal that KhloΓ© Kardashian had a pregnancy scare and was suffering from migraines/throwing up blood before finding out Tristan cheated (WOW, KUWTK, OKAY), we learned *exactly* how the cheating drama actually unfolded. And um....it's pretty different than Jordyn Woods' version on Red Table Talk.

As a reminder, Jordyn (who, keep in mind, has been dealing with a lot of unfair harassment because of this!) sat down with Jada Pinkett Smith and insisted that she and Tristan had only kissed because *he* initiated. "Never once was I giving him a lap dance, making out with him, sitting all over him," she said. "It’s just we’re all together; we’re in a group. Never once did we leave the public area, go to the bedroom, go to the bathroom." She also added, "It was a kiss on the lips," again emphasizing that there was no making out.

Buttttttt, the Kardashians see things a little differently. Mostly because Tristan himself told KhloΓ© that they made out. "Once Tristan finally landed in Cleveland, he saw my millions of text messages," she said. "He already knew what was up and there was nothing else he could do but confirm it. I got my questions answered. Everyone left and Jordyn stayed. She was sitting on his lap on a chair, they were all over each other, they were handsy. They made out."

And yeah, obviously fans have noticed the discrepancy in these two stories:

Jordyn has yet to comment on allegations that she lied on Red Table Talk, and in fact she hasn't reacted to this episode at all yet. Probably because she's too busy living her best life!

Rock n' roll pioneer Dave Bartholomew dead at 100 - Fox News

Dave Bartholomew, a giant of New Orleans music and a rock n' roll pioneer who with Fats Domino co-wrote and produced such classics as "Ain't That a Shame," ''I'm Walkin,'" and "Let the Four Winds Blow," has died. He was 100 years old.

Bartholomew, a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, died Sunday at a hospital in a New Orleans suburb.

His eldest son, Dave Bartholomew Jr., confirmed the news to The Associated Press, saying: "Daddy was 100 years and six months old. It was just that time."

A trumpet player since childhood and a bandleader and arranger before World War II, Bartholomew befriended Domino in the late 1940s and collaborated with the singer-piano player on dozens of hits that captured Domino's good-natured appeal, made him one of rock's earliest stars, and New Orleans a center for popular music.
