Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their golden carpet debut at the London premiere of "The Lion King" on Sunday, where they mingled with Jay-Z and Beyoncé.

It was the second public appearance for Prince Harry, 34, and Duchess Meghan, 37, since the birth of their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, in May.

The Duchess of Sussex wore a black A-line Jason Wu dress with sheer sleeves and Aquazzura slingback heels. She carried a delicate Gucci clutch for the night out.

Meghan Markle Attends 'The Lion King' Premiere with Prince Harry - HarpersBAZAAR.com

The London premiere of Disney's The Lion King, taking place on July 14, 2019, is turning out to be a star-studded event.

Despite still being on maternity leave, following the birth of baby Archie earlier this year, Meghan Markle has reportedly chosen to attend the British premiere. Royal mothers can apparently pick and choose the public appearances they make during their maternity leave, and as The Lion King is one of the world's most beloved movies, who would blame her?

Arriving at the glitzy premiere alongside her husband, Duchess Meghan looked absolutely stunning on the red (or should I say orangey yellow?) carpet. She wore a stunning black Jason Wu dress with long sheer sleeves which is still available to shop for $2,450. According to @MeghansMirror, the duchess also wore Nikos Koulis earrings, and carried a Gucci Broadway clutch.

As per usual, she looked nothing short of stunning:

Discussing Meghan's appearance on Twitter, royal correspondent Omid Scobie wrote, "Buckingham Palace confirm that Duchess Meghan will be joining Harry on the carpet for the #LionKing premiere this Sunday. And yes, @Beyonce’s people tell me that she will be attending. Expect the internet break down." Understandably, fans were pretty excited about the prospect of the Duchess of Sussex and Beyoncé crossing paths.

And ahead of the event, Scobie tweeted, "Last minute carpet prep in Leicester Square for the royal premiere of #TheLionKing. Expect some BIG red carpet surprises...":

Robert Downey Jr. Reflects on Playing Iron Man and Makes it Clear That, "I Am Not What I Did With That Studio. - GeekTyrant

Now that Robert Downey Jr. is finished with Marvel, it seems like he is ready to move on with his life and career and in a way distance himself from the role of Tony Stark, which launched his acting career into a whole new stratosphere.

One of the things that he wants people to know is that he is not his work, he explained, “I am not what I did with that studio. Here’s what he told THR in an interview:

"Initially, by creating and associating and synergizing with Tony Stark and the Marvel Universe … and being a good company man, but also being a little off-kilter, being creative and getting into all these other partnerships, it was a time when … what do they say? Owners start looking like their pets.”

He did not want to let that happen, so he honed in on a process called aesthetic distance and explains:

"I am not my work. I am not what I did with that studio. I am not that period of time that I spent playing this character. And it sucks, because the kid in all of us wants to be like, 'No. It's always going to be summer camp and we're all holding hands and singing 'Kumbaya'."

Of course the actor did enjoy his time playing the character and as you might image, he also enjoyed the huge amounts of money that he made from those movies!

"There's always a dependency on something that feels like a sure thing. It's the closest I will ever come to being a trust fund kid.”

I seriously doubt that Downey Jr. will ever be in a position where he worries about money. The guy is a talented actor that is never going to have issues finding work again. He’s got a Sherlock Holmes 3 in the works along with a reboot of Doctor Dolittle, but he has yet to fully explore what his post-Marvel life and career could be. He knows that he needs to start doing that soon, though.

"I have not been forced to explore the new frontier of what is my creative and personal life after this. It's always good to get ahead of where you are about to be. If you put eyes on 'that's going to be a big turn down there, spring of '19,' I better start psychically getting on top of that. … It's always in the transitions between one phase and the next phase that people fall apart."

I’ll be looking forward to seeing what projects that Downey Jr. ends up taking on in the future, beyond what we already know is coming.

'Spider-Man: Far from Home' Repeats at #1, Nearing $850 Million Worldwide - Box Office Mojo

    by Brad Brevet
    July 14, 2019

It was a repeat weekend for last week's top two films as Sony's Spider-Man: Far from Home topped the weekend while nearing $850 million globally and Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 4 found itself in the runner-up position while becoming the fifth largest Pixar release domestically ever. As for the weekend's new wide releases, both played mostly to expectations with Paramount's Crawl finishing in third and Disney's release of Fox's Stuber landing in fourth.

Sony's Spider-Man: Far from Home delivered a repeat performance atop the weekend box office, bringing in an estimated $45.3 million, signaling a -51% drop as its domestic cume now stands just shy of $275 million. Meanwhile, the film added $100 million overseas this weekend, pushing the global cume just shy of $850 million after 17 days of release. Far from Home's $572.5 million international haul now makes it the highest grossing Spider-Man movie internationally, topping Spider-Man 3's $555 million overseas total. China remains the film's top international market where it's estimated cume currently stands at $191.8 million along with South Korea ($49.7m), UK ($28.6m), Mexico ($24.1m), Brazil ($18m), Australia ($20.1m), France ($14.8m), Indonesia ($15.9m), Russia ($17m) and Germany ($11.1m).

In the runner-up position for the second weekend in a row is Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 4, dipping -39% for an estimated $20.66 million. The film's domestic cume stands at $346 million as it enters its fourth weekend in release, now ranking as the fifth largest Pixar release domestically of all-time.

Internationally, Toy Story 4 added $48.1 million for an overseas cume that now totals nearly $425 million and a global tally topping $771 million. Among the weekend's new markets, the film debuted in Japan with an estimated $15.3 million, setting the highest Disney Animation/Pixar opening of all-time in the market. The film also opened in Hong Kong with an estimated $4.6 million, which also served as a record for a Disney Animation/Pixar title. The final key market where the film has yet to release is Germany where it will open on August 15.

In third we come to the first of the weekend's two new wide releases in Paramount's R-rated alligator thriller Crawl, which debuted just shy of Mojo's pre-weekend forecast with an estimated $12 million. The performance tops our pre-weekend comp 47 Meters Down, which opened with $11.2 million back in June 2017 before finishing with over $44 million domestically and has a sequel set to hit theaters next month.

Crawl received a "B" CinemaScore from opening day audiences and played to a crowd that was 51% male. Additionally, 64% of the opening weekend audience was aged 25 or older.

Internationally, Crawl debuted in 20 markets and brought in an estimated $4.8 million with Malaysia's $1 million opening leading the way. Upcoming key releases include a July 24 release in France followed by Mexico (Aug 9), Russia (Aug 22), Germany (Aug 22), the UK (Aug 23), Spain (Aug 23) and Brazil (Sep 26).

Disney's release of Fox's R-rated comedy Stuber stumbled into fourth with an estimated $8 million. The film received a "B" CinemaScore from opening day audiences while playing to a crowd that was 56% male and 61% of the overall audience was aged 25 or older.

Internationally, Stuber opened in nine markets with an estimated $3 million. The film's top market is Russia where it opened with $500k with key upcoming openings including Mexico (Jul 26), Germany (Aug 22), Italy (Aug 29), Spain (Sep 13), France (Oct 30) and Brazil (Nov 7).

Rounding out the top five is Universal's Yesterday with an estimated $6.75 million, dropping just -33% as it enters its third week in release. The film's domestic cume now stands at $48.3 million. The film also added another $7.8 million internationally from 42 markets currently in play, pushing the overseas cume over $32 million for a global tally that now stands at $80.5 million.

In limited release, A24's The Farewell debuted in four locations with an estimated $351,330, for the best opening weekend theater average of the year so far, coming in at $87,833 per theater. The film will expand into top markets next weekend, ahead of a nationwide expansion on August 2.

Additionally, Reliance's Bollywood release Super 30 brought in an estimated $923,912 from 317 theaters ($2,915 PTA) while Bleecker's The Art of Self-Defense brought in an estimated $121,000 from seven locations for a $17,297 per theater average. The Art of Self-Defense will be expanding into over 500 locations next weekend. Urban Movie Channel debuted I Got the Hook Up 2 in 37 theaters with an estimated $143,000 ($3,873 PTA); Entertainment Studios's documentary Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable brought in an estimated $250,000 from 205 locations ($1,220 PTA); and IFC's Sword of Trust brought in an estimated $22,512 from two theaters.

Next weekend will belong to Disney's The Lion King, which will open in over 4,500 locations with high expectations for its opening weekend. On that note, The Lion King already began its international roll-out this weekend, opening in China with an estimated $54.7 million and will open in all other international markets next weekend with the U.S. with the exception of Hong Kong, Japan and Italy.

Box Office: ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Crushes ‘Crawl,’ ‘Stuber’ - Variety

Sony’s “Spider-Man: Far From Home” claimed victory again during its second weekend in theaters, dominating over new releases, Paramount’s gator thriller “Crawl” and Disney’s R-rated comedy “Stuber.”

The superhero tentpole collected another $45 million, boosting domestic grosses to $274 million. This weekend’s haul represents a 50% decline in ticket sales from its inaugural outing, a stronger hold compared to its predecessor, 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

The 23rd adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has crossed the $800 million mark worldwide, with box office receipts at $847 million. It’s now the biggest “Spider-Man” film internationally with $572 million.

Crawl” secured the best start among fresh offerings, but neither newcomer managed to pack theaters. Paramount’s disaster thriller landed in third place, biting into $12 million when it debuted in 3,170 theaters. The studio shelled out $13.5 million in production fees. Directed by Alexandre Aja, “Crawl” follows a father and daughter (Barry Pepper and Kaya Scodelario) who are forced to escape a pack of hungry alligators after a massive hurricane hits their Florida town. A majority of ticket buyers were between the ages of 18 and 44. Overseas, “Crawl” pulled in $4.8 million from 20 international markets for a global start of $16.8 million.

Falling not far behind is “Stuber,” Disney’s first R-rated release since inheriting Fox’s film assets. The buddy comedy pulled in $8 million from 3,050 venues, on par with expectations but a lackluster start for a film that cost $16 million to produce. In “Stuber,” Kumail Nanjiani plays an Uber driver who unwittingly becomes part of a his passenger’s (Dave Bautista) arrest operation. Males accounted for 56% of opening weekend crowds, while 65% of audiences were over the age of 25.

A number of holdovers filled out domestic box office charts. In second place, Disney’s “Toy Story 4” stayed strong, generating another $20 million during its fourth weekend in theaters for a North America tally of $346 million. Rounding out the top five is Universal’s Beatles musical “Yesterday.” Directed by Danny Boyle, the romantic comedy made $6.7 million in its third outing, bringing its domestic total to $48 million.

At the indie box office, A24’s “The Farewell” brought in $351,330 from four venues for a massive $87,833 per location. Lulu Wang directed the comedic drama, based on her own family. Awkwafina stars as a granddaughter of her family’s matriarch who, unbeknownst to herself, is dying from terminal cancer. “The Farewell” premiered to glowing reviews at Sundance and holds a rare 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Meanwhile, Bleecker Street’s “The Art of Self Defense” nabbed $121,080 from seven screens, averaging a strong $17,297 from each venue. The dark comedy, starring Jesse Eisenberg as a mild-mannered accountant who joins an off-kilter karate studio to learn how to better protect himself, will expand to 500 locations next weekend.

Also at the specialty market, Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures opened “Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable” in 205 locations, where it pocketed $250,000. The documentary follow the surfing champion as she tackles motherhood and continues to hit the waves years after her devastating shark attack.

Overall, domestic box office ticket sales are still down over 8% from last year, according to Comscore. Hollywood is banking on the second half of summer to deliver, with hits like Disney’s “The Lion King” and Universal’s “Fast & Furious” spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw” on deck.

'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Tops Box Office And Nears $850 Million Worldwide - Forbes

Spider-Man: Far From Home earned a solid $45.3 million in its second weekend of domestic release, dropping a reasonable 51% from its $92.6 million Fri-Sun frame. Now that is actually a bigger fall than similar “big” Wednesday or Tuesday openers like Amazing Spider-Man (-44%), Batman Begins (-45%), Transformers (-47%) and Spider-Man 2 (-48%). That said, it was a better hold, relatively speaking, than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (-62%), Transformers: Dark of the Moon (-52%) and Transformers: The Last Knight (-61%). And we’re still talking about a movie that has earned $274.529 million in ten days of domestic release.

So even while I may have hoped for/expected slightly sturdier legs, this is still a solid performance. The big question going forward, to the extent that it matters for a movie that has already earned $847 million worldwide (more on that in a moment), is whether it gets pounced by The Lion King, pounced again by Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and then again by Hobbs & Shaw. It’s possible that The Lion King hurts Far From Home as badly in its third weekend (-68%) as did The Dark Knight Rises did to Amazing Spider-Man in 2012.

This isn’t quite an apples-to-apples comparison. It’s just as likely that these four very different biggies, a superhero sequel, a mega-bucks animated remake, an R-rated event movie with movie stars and marquee directors and a star-driven franchise spin-off action movie, will thrive concurrently between now and Labor Day. Nonetheless, Spider-Man: Far From Home could be just over/under $300 million domestic by the time The Lion King even opens, so the only thing at stake is pride and whether or not the $160 million Sony flick can top Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’s $404 million domestic total.

If that happens, it’ll be Sony’s biggest, sans inflation, domestic grosser ever. And with $572.5 million overseas, it is the biggest Spider-Man movie ever in unadjusted foreign box office, passing Spider-Man 3's $555 million overseas cume. It will soon pass Spider-Man: Homecoming ($881 million in 2017) and Spider-Man 3 ($890 million in 2007 sans 3-D) to become the biggest Spidey flick ever. At this point, $1 billion is a near-foregone conclusion and passing the $1.108 billion cume of Skyfall (in 2012, sans 3-D) seems probable as well. If that happens, it’ll be Sony’s biggest global grosser of all time.

The superhero sequel, which is as much a teen comedy as an action flick, could thrive as a consensus pick or second choice among large groups of moviegoers who want to see a “big” movie but aren’t in the mood for a Fast & Furious flick, a Tarantino joint or an animated flick. Most of the May and June biggies are mostly played out, leaving only Spider-Man, the next three weeks of biggies and counter-programming like Yesterday and Annabelle Comes Home as viable competition. So, yeah, whatever the opposite of “Peter Parker luck” is, Far From Home’s got it thus far.
