Kaia Gerber's Instagram Post Is Making Everyone Wonder If Things Are OK With Her and Pete Davidson - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

The celebrity spotlight has been shining brightly on Pete Davidson since his whirlwind romance with Ariana Grande. The Saturday Night Live star charmed the pint-sized singer, and they quickly entered an engagement that ended in catastrophe. Grande may have a song on her album dedicated to Davidson, but he’s since moved on with multiple other girlfriends since then. And it seems he’s currently dating supermodel Kaia Gerber.

Gerber is only 18 years old, but she’s already making frequent appearances in New York City to meet up with Davidson. And the two of them appear to be very happy together. Gerber’s recent Instagram post has some concerned, however, as it may indicate she’s experiencing some stress from all the attention she’s getting from the relationship.

Davidson was recently dating Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star Margaret Qualley, but shortly after that breakup, he was seen hanging out with Gerber. Davidson and Gerber were first spotted together in New York City at the end of October.

As for how the two met, it’s all thanks to their modeling careers. The 18-year-old is already an accomplished supermodel and walks international runways. Davidson made his runway debut in June 2019 for Alexander Wang, and Gerber was a part of this show as well.

While Gerber and Davidson seemed to keep their romance under wraps for awhile, they’ve since made several public displays of affection. They’ve been caught holding hands in a grocery store, and even more recently, they were spotted kissing at a concert they attended together. As one concertgoer told Page Six, “They were very touchy and seemed very happy. Pete was a gentleman and was holding Kaia’s black coat.”

Many are warning Gerber to stay away from Davidson

Davidson doesn’t have a good track record with his girlfriends. He appears to move quickly from one woman to the next, and fans have growing concerns for Gerber.

“Girl not Pete,” one follower commented on her Instagram post.

Another wrote, “I read about Kaia dating that guy who has dated everyone. Don’t remember his name. But he has an impressive resume. I was think…..no Kaia, don’t!!!!!”

Davidson promises he treats his girlfriends respectively, however, though he admits he can certainly be overbearing. “My love language, when I’m in a relationship, is I treat the person I’m with like a princess,” Davidson told PAPER Magazine. “Sometimes when you put so much on someone, it overwhelms them, and then they don’t know if they could come close to that. … So, it’s very off-putting to some … It’s something I had to learn in a past relationship, which sucked to learn through that person, but it makes you better.”

Her latest Instagram post is troubling

Gerber’s been in the public eye since childhood thanks to her supermodel mother, Cindy Crawford. And she already has a serious Instagram following thanks to her own model status. But it seems dating Davidson is bringing her a lot of new attention she might not have anticipated.

Gerber posted a screenshot of Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing shoveling ice cream into his mouth from the sitcom Friends. And she captioned the post, “moral support.”

Many reacted to the post with laughing emojis, and others wondered if all the media attention on her relationship is the reason she posted a stressed-out photo of the character.

“Only you know what is best for you. Love you. And just know you have our support dear,” one fan commented.

Another wrote, “What did Pete do.”

We’re not sure if Gerber’s post has anything to do with Davidson, either — and hopefully, their relationship is going strong. We’ll have to wait and see how it all pans out.

Crazy Rich Asians Director Responds to Brenda Song's Claims - E! NEWS

After Brenda Song claimed she was told her "image was basically not Asian enough" to audition for Crazy Rich Asians, the film's director, Jon M. Chu, took to Twitter to address the allegations.

"??Nope," the 40-year-old filmmaker tweeted after a follower shared the article in which Song made the comments. " I love @BrendaSong and that sucks if anything of that nature was ever communicated. It's gross actually. The fact is, obviously I know who she is and didn't need her to audition. I'm a fan of hers! Nothing more nothing less. Bums me out she thought it was anything but."

Chu reiterated this notion after seeing multiple outlets report on Song's claims, as well.

"Would these words ever come out of my mouth?" he tweeted. "Nope. Makes no sense. I feel horrible she thinks this is the reason. The fact is I love Brenda Song and am a fan. I didn't need her to audition because I already knew who she was!"

He also resurfaced a 2018 article about the movie's open casting call.

"One of my favorite memories of making #CrazyRichAsians was when we opened the auditions to anyone in the world with our open call," he tweeted. "We watched hundreds &hundreds of videos from very talented people from all around the world. Made us tear up many times."

Song made the comments during a recent interview with Teen Vogue. While she said she's a fan of the Kevin Kwan book and asked her managers if she could set up an audition, she said she "never got to read," for a part in the project.

"Their reasoning behind that, what they said was that my image was basically not Asian enough, in not so many words," she told the magazine. "It broke my heart. I said, ‘This character is in her late to mid-20s, an Asian American, and I can't even audition for it? I've auditioned for Caucasian roles my entire career, but this specific role, you're not going to let me do it? You're going to fault me for having worked my whole life?' I was like, ‘Where do I fit?'"

The Disney Channel star, who played London Tipton on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, said she then decided to take some time off to travel.

"I got myself together and said, ‘Brenda, there is only one you, and you can't change who you are. You can't change your past,'" she said. "I am so grateful for every job that I've done. All I can do is continue to put good auditions out there, do the best that I can—that's all I can ask for."

How the Queen Forced Prince Andrew Out, as U.S. Epstein Investigation Draws Closer - The Daily Beast

Disgraced royal Prince Andrew is preparing to give evidence to the Jeffrey Epstein inquiry in the U.S., and courtiers at Buckingham Palace believe a demand for testimony may be imminent.

Andrew made it clear in his resignation statement that he would cooperate with law enforcement as they investigated Epstein.

The Daily Telegraph reported Thursday that Buckingham Palace is braced for U.S. authorities to issue the duke with a subpoena, requesting he gives testimony under oath about his friendship with Epstein.

Following his statement, Andrew would have little choice but to comply.

Gloria Allred, the celebrity lawyer representing some of Epstein’s alleged victims, was quick to demand Andrew voluntarily contact U.S. authorities “without conditions and without delay,” asking the question: “Is he insisting that he be served with a subpoena to testify, or is he willing to speak to law enforcement without being legally required to do so?”

That such the threat of subpoena should be hanging over Andrew goes a long way to explaining his mystifying decision to give an hour-long interview to one of the U.K.’s most-feared political interviewers.

It was widely speculated after Andrew did the ill-advised sit-down that he had done it because he suspected he was about to be subpoenaed by U.S. authorities. Andrew had hoped, according to the theory, to get out ahead of any such action. He hoped the interview would allow him to win over public opinion before law enforcement closed in.

In the end, of course, the interview had the opposite effect, and by his haughty manner, extraordinary denials, provably false claims, unwillingness to regret his friendship with Epstein, and failure to express any sympathy for Epstein’s victims, Andrew dug his own grave.

Now, it seems, flashing blue lights may be a part of Andrew’s royal afterlife.

The brutal ouster, when it came, was worthy of the nickname the royals use for themselves, “The Firm.”

Late Wednesday afternoon, Prince Andrew issued the statement that brought his public life to an end. He claimed it was his decision and that he had sought the queen’s “permission” to withdraw from public duties for the foreseeable future, but the truth was far from that.

Royal briefings are making it very clear today that he was fired—and the termination is permanent.

“The bottle of whisky and the pearl-handled revolver were laid out for him. And they were laid out for him by his mother,” one source told The Daily Beast.

But behind his mother’s brutal sacking many detect the guiding hand of Prince Charles, who has sought to exclude Andrew from the royal family since 2012, and who finally seized the opportunity Wednesday.

The Queen has been locked in phone calls with Charles, who is on tour in New Zealand, since the crisis broke.

Writer Penny Junor, who has worked closely with Charles on biographies and is a trusted confidante of the palace, told The Daily Beast that she suspected Charles had played a significant role in the hit, saying: “I imagine there might have been a bit of pressure on him to make this announcement, and I suspect that might have come from his older brother.”

Andrew was quickly pulled from a scheduled visit to flood victims in northern England as plans for his demise were sealed. He was summoned to Buckingham Palace from his home in Windsor on Wednesday afternoon, where he was told it was over.

Andrew was told he would no longer to have any frontline duties representing the family. He was told he was to stand down immediately from his 200 charitable patronages. He was told that he would immediately lose his £250,000 per annum grant.

The one crumb of comfort came when duke was told he would still be welcome at family occasions, so expect to see him at Sandringham walking to church on Christmas Day.

Like all well-executed hits, Andrew, a friend told the Daily Beast, had no idea what was about to happen. Indeed, he was planning a trip to the Middle East this weekend as part of his business startup program.

In fact, according to the Queen’s biographer Robert Hardman, writing in the Daily Mail today, the Queen and Charles reached their decision Tuesday night when Andrew became a subject of discussion in a BBC debate between rival politicians Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn, who are squaring up for an election on Dec. 12.

A member of the public asked the leaders whether the monarchy was fit for purpose: Corbyn’s sly response that it “needs a bit of improvement” got a thunderous response.

That the monarchy should be a bona fide talking point in a general election was a huge red flag and a reminder of 1992, when the Queen apologized to then Prime Minister John Major that the breakdown of the marriage between Duke and Duchess of York intruded on the election. It seems another such apology, necessitated by the same member of the royal family, may be necessary this time.

Unbelievably, just 24 minutes after Andrew’s statement had been released, the Queen was making a public appearance, presenting her old friend Sir David Attenborough with a lifetime achievement award.

She even managed to crack a joke and there was laughter as she told the TV legend: “Sir David, this award recognizes your many talents and one can’t help but feel that, for those of us of a certain generation, we can take great pleasure in proving age is no barrier to being a positive influence.”

The Queen kept a smile pasted on her face throughout, but don’t mistake that for any pleasure at Andrew’s demise. She will be devastated at the tragedy that has befallen her favorite son, just a few months short of his 60th birthday.

In a bitter irony, yesterday marked what should have been a joyous day of celebration as it marked the Queen’s 72nd wedding anniversary.

Yet just minutes after one of the most sickening decisions of her career, Her Majesty was doing exactly what being the perfect royal requires—sublimating her emotions to the service of the Crown.

The contrast with Andrew could hardly be greater, and now he has the rest of his life to ponder what might have been.

Apple’s first big TV Plus movie may be in jeopardy as company cancels premiere - The Verge

Apple has abruptly cancelled the premiere of The Banker, its first major movie for Apple TV Plus, after charges have emerged concerning a member of the family the film is based on, Deadline is reporting. The film was originally due to have its premiere on Thursday, on the closing night of AFI Fest in Hollywood, ahead of its theatrical release on December 6th.

“We purchased The Banker earlier this year as we were moved by the film’s entertaining and educational story about social change and financial literacy,” Apple said in a statement to Deadline. “Last week some concerns surrounding the film were brought to our attention. We, along with the filmmakers, need some time to look into these matters and determine the best next steps. In light of this, we are no longer premiering The Banker at AFI Fest.”

With a cast that includes Anthony Mackie, Samuel L. Jackson, Nicholas Hoult, and Nia Long, The Banker is one of the highest profile films acquired by Apple for its streaming service. It was originally due to arrive on the streaming service early next year, but these plans are reportedly on hold pending an investigation by Apple.

The concerns are not thought to relate to any of the historical figures depicted in the movie. Instead Deadline reports that allegations have been leveled about Bernard Garrett Jr., the son of the character depicted by Anthony Mackie in the film. Garrett Jr. has been involved with promoting the film, and acted as a consultant during its production.

The Banker is one of three films Apple was set to release in 2019 alongside The Elephant Queen and Hala.

‘The Banker’: Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Real-Life Subject’s Son Prompts Apple to Cancel Premiere - IndieWire

Apple Originals abruptly canceled the November 21 AFI Fest closing-night premiere of “The Banker” early on November 20, citing “concerns” about the film that stars Anthony Mackie as Bernard Garrett, Sr., a man who launched a financial institution that gave loans to African Americans when few banks in the U.S. would.

However, a comment on IndieWire’s article about a panel discussion for the film held at our own Consider This FYC Brunch on November 5 in Los Angeles pointed to what those “concerns” might be.

Cynthia Garrett, a former VH1 and MTV broadcaster, wrote a lengthy statement about how “The Banker” misrepresents her family’s story. She alleges her half-brother Bernard Garrett Jr., a co-producer on the film, helped develop the project without input from her or her other siblings and skewed the account of the real-life story in a way that omitted them and their mother Linda from the story.

In a statement to THR, Garrett accused Garrett Jr. of molesting her and other siblings over years — and helped shape a narrative that elides that abuse.

On November 9, however, Garrett wrote the following as a comment below IndieWire’s write-up of “The Banker” panel:

His real wife is Linda Garrett. She’s my mother. [The film focuses on Bernard Garrett Sr.’s first wife over his second.] What’s been done here is shocking. My dad would turn in his grave. No script was ever written 20 years ago. My dad wrote a small book he gave us kids. Truth was what he and my mom wanted. Instead HOLLYWOOD has partnered with our half brother and stolen my mom’s story after molesting me and my baby sister for years. What about fact checks? It’s sick that these men never seemed to care to know the real story here. I’ve worked in Hollywood thirty years. I’ve spoken about this in my book. [In 2016, she published “Prodigal Daughter: A Journey Home To Identity.”] And in conferences for years all over the world. Yet they partnered with our estranged half brother and erased us and our mother who co owned all the real estate and the banks. No regard for truth or family or sexual abuse victims being constantly abused. Every producer and star who played a part in this should be ashamed. Apple TV should be ashamed. We would have pride in my dads story being told but we all dreamed we would share our mom and dads truth accurately. My mom is devastated. Nia long is black. My moms face is white. I guess HOLLYWOOD prefers the racial divide to continue rather than heal it. Something will now need to be done. We are praying Apple TV will make this right somehow.

A woman claiming to be another sibling, Grace Garrett, also commented:

This story is not being told accurately and Bernard Jr. Is lieing [sic]. Please speak with the other 8 children of Bernard Garrett Sr.

IndieWire reached out to Cynthia Garrett over email to confirm the comment, and she responded:

Yes it’s true. They omitted my mom and my siblings and I entirely. Stole our mom and our life story and did so with our abuser. It hurts. Deeply. HOLLYWOOD needs regulations that make filmmakers way more responsible and accountable for taking people’s life stories and with whom they work.

Currently, “The Banker” is slated for theatrical release December 6. Representatives for Apple TV+, producer Joel Viertel, and star Anthony Mackie have not yet returned IndieWire’s requests for comment. IndieWire will continue to update this story.
