How Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Exit May Mean Prince George Will Never Be King - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

As third in line to the throne, most royal watchers assume that Prince George will become the King of the United Kingdom someday. But Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s stunning exit has rocked the royal family like never before, and one expert believes George will never sit on the throne as a result of their decision. Here’s a look at the heartbreaking reason Prince George may never be King.

The future of the monarchy is in jeopardy

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently stepped down as senior members of the royal family in a move that reportedly blindsided the royal family. While Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William scrambled to right the ship, there is one person who believes the monarchy will never be the same.

During an interview on a radio show in Australia, psychic Georgina Walker predicted that Harry and Meghan’s decision will forever change the royal family. According to Express, Walker believes that the monarchy will undergo big changes in the coming years, and one of those will make Prince William the last person to sit on the throne, meaning Prince George would never be King.

“I knew it was going to happen, I predicted the Queen would refresh the monarchy to make it a younger approach,” Walker shared. “I said when George was born, he would never be King.”

The psychic added that Megxit will have lasting consequences for the royals and could lead to significant changes in the near future which would directly affect Prince George and his siblings. She also believes that Prince Harry and Meghan will have a difficult time funding their endeavors now that they are no longer receiving money from the crown.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their departure at the beginning of 2020. Not only are they becoming financially independent, but they are also splitting their time between the UK and Canada.

Prince Harry speaks out

In the days and weeks following Megxit, Harry met with senior members of the royal family to iron out the details of his exit. As a result of their decision, Harry and Meghan are giving up their royal titles and will no longer rely on public funding.

The Sussexes are also going to pay back the $3 million that was used to renovate their home in Windsor, Frogmore Cottage. They have yet to buy a house in Canada but are reportedly looking for a place to settle down.

In the meantime, Prince Harry recently spoke about his decision to step down during a royal engagement in London. Harry revealed that he did not make the decision lightly and that he saw no other way to give his family the life they deserve.

“Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the Commonwealth, and my military associations, but without public funding. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible,” Harry shared. “I’ve accepted this, knowing that it doesn’t change who I am or how committed I am.”

Prince Harry added that he hopes leaving the royal spotlight will lead to a more peaceful life for his wife and son, Archie Harrison. Meghan Markle has yet to comment on the situation.

Fans react to Megxit

Royal watchers around the world have not reacted kindly to the news of Harry and Meghan stepping down.

Some fans have voiced their support for the couple, but others believe that Meghan has been planning an exit strategy since day one. There has even been some speculation that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will get divorced in the coming years.

Fans have pointed out that Meghan has a tendency to quit things around the two-year mark. Her first marriage, for example, only lasted 23 months. Her stint in the royal family was also cut short well before two years.

That does not mean Prince Harry and Meghan are headed for a split, but it is something to watch out for.

What happens if Prince George sits on the throne?

If the psychic is wrong and Prince George does become King one day, Kate Middleton’s title will change (assuming she is still around to see George sit on the throne).

When William inherits the crown after Charles, Kate will be given the title of Queen Consort. Her duties will be very similar to what Prince Philip has done over the years as Queen Elizabeth’s consort.

In the event that Kate outlives William, she will take on a new title once George sits on the throne. George’s spouse will be given the title of consort, while Kate will be called Queen Mother.

In her new role, Kate Middleton will support Prince George’s reign and still appear in public on behalf of the royal family.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have begun their new life in Canada with Archie, here’s hoping they find the happiness and quite life they deserve.

Did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Choose British Columbia Because of Their Privacy Laws? - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made their desires known, they want to be left alone by the press. In October 2019, the prince issued a stern warning to the British media to leave him, his wife and his young son alone. In a scathing statement, Prince Harry accused the press of bullying Meghan Markle. The warning did little to slow coverage, and in January 2020, the couple announced that they’d be stepping down from royal life in pursuit of more privacy. They appear to have their sights set on British Columbia as their new home, and there might be an excellent reason; British Columbia has pretty intense privacy laws.

Are Meghan Markle and Prince Harry really settling in Canada?

Prince Harry arrived on Vancouver Island last week. He joined his wife and young son, leading most royal family followers to assume the pair are planning to set down roots in the area. That might not actually be the case, though. The couple may be merely vacationing in the area while they consider their options.

Rumors were swirling that they were eyeing a $35 million mansion in Vancouver’s most exclusive neighborhoods, but according to the New York Times, the listing agent claimed to be completely unaware of any interest by the couple.  There is some belief that the couple may be considering Victoria for its moderate climate, as well as Toronto. Before she became the Duchess of Sussex, Markle called Toronto home and forged plenty of friendships there. It’s possible she’d like to head back to an area where she felt supported.

Speaking of support systems, Markle’s mother resides in California, and there was some belief that the royal couple would eventually settle into the sunny landscape of Malibu to be close to Doria Ragland. Heading to California would offer the couple very little in the way of protection from the paparazzi, though, and, instead, would place the family in their direct sights. People believe New York City might be on the couple’s shortlist, as well. Regardless of the possible United States locations on media shortlists, Canada, no matter what city, seems like their most likely home base, and that’s because of the country’s privacy laws

What privacy laws does Canada have?

Privacy laws exist throughout Canada, but British Columbia appears to have laws specifically about photography and video. In fact, The Privacy Act specific to the province allows private citizens to sue individuals if they can prove that their privacy has been invaded when they had reasonable expectations of privacy. Surveillance and eavesdropping are also considered violations of the law.

The laws, however, have not been tested when it comes to a celebrity just yet. Canada, by and large, does not have the paparazzi culture that exists in other parts of the world. It’s also impossible to tell how the country’s laws would translate to individuals who are not citizens of the country. For example, it’s hard to say if the regulation would be enforceable on individuals who travel to Canada to photograph the couple. By and large, privacy laws in the province and the overarching federal regulations have been primarily used for organizational data breaches.

Will Harry and Meghan be left alone if they do settle in British Columbia?

While British Columbia does have privacy laws on the books, the Huffington Post notes that they’ve very rarely been challenged, and winning a case would be difficult. Any photos taken in a public space of a public figure would likely be considered fair game, explains Roger McConchie, a Vancouver-based lawyer who spoke with the Huffington Post. Since the royal couple are considered public figures, their privacy is far from a sure thing.

If Markle and Prince Harry were to have their pictures taken in public, like in a park or out to eat, those pictures would likely be considered publishable. Photos that are taken using telephoto lenses of the couple in a home or in a private space, however, are subject to privacy laws, and any publication who chooses to use them could be sued, according to the privacy regulations currently on file.

The BBC suggests that the couple was probably safer from the lens of paparazzi back in the United Kingdom. Paparazzi photos of the couple have not been published since their wedding, although the media firestorm surrounding their movements is part of the reason they stepped away from the royal family, according to reports.

'Sopranos' actress testified that Harvey Weinstein raped her. An expert may now shed light on why Annabella Sciorra stayed quiet for years - CNN

"The Sopranos" actress testified Weinstein entered her Manhattan home in the winter of 1993-1994, chased her around and pinned her to the bed before sexually assaulting her.
"I felt overpowered because he was very big," Sciorra told jurors Thursday.
Sciorra is one of six women expected to testify that they were attacked by Weinstein as state prosecutors, who opened their case this week, aim to establish a pattern of sex crimes against multiple victims to support two predatory sexual assault charges.
Harvey Weinstein is 'not a harmless old man,' prosecutors say
Due on the stand Friday is Dr. Barbara Ziv, a forensic psychiatrist who testified for the prosecution in the trial of Bill Cosby. Prosecutors in Weinstein's case plan to have Ziv testify about why victims may delay disclosing a sexual assault, factors that determine whether and how a victim may interact with their attacker after an assault, and why a victim may lack signs of an outward trauma after an assault.
Prosecutors allege the movie tycoon raped and sexually assaulted young women and actresses over decades. Sciorra first publicly spoke about the attack in an October 2017 New Yorker story as part of a wave of accusations against him.
Weinstein's attorney during opening statements this week aimed to discredit the state's "prior bad acts" witnesses, attacking their credibility and picking apart their time lines. Ziv, meantime, will offer only speculation based on her expertise with sexual assault victims -- not the witnesses in this case -- defense attorney Damon Cheronis said Wednesday.
Weinstein also faces three other charges related to his alleged rape of Jessica Mann and for allegedly forcing oral sex on Mimi Haleyi. Sciorra's claims fall outside the statute of limitations for other crimes.

Sciorra says she confronted him after the assault

Actress Annabella Sciorra returns after a lunch break in Harvey Weinstein's rape trial on January 23 in New York.
Sciorra is best known for her Emmy-nominated role on "The Sopranos" as Gloria Trillo, Tony Soprano's mistress.
She met Weinstein at an industry event in the early 1990s and became part of Miramax's circle, attending events and dinners around New York City, Assistant District Attorney Meghan Hast said in the trial's opening statements.
In the winter of 1993-1994, after a dinner at an Irish restaurant in Manhattan, Weinstein offered Sciorra a ride to her apartment, she testified. She went in, put on a nightgown and was getting ready for bed when he knocked on the door. When she opened it, he pushed his way inside, Sciorra said.
Weinstein unbuttoned his shirt, she testified, grabbed her arm and dragged her into a bedroom.
Sciorra kicked, punched and fought him until he held her arms above her head on the bed and raped her, she testified. Weinstein pulled out of her to ejaculate on her duvet and her nightgown, she said. He then performed oral sex on her.
Sciorra did not put up much of a fight, she testified, because her body began shaking. She did not tell police about the incident, and she does not remember telling anybody about it for years, she said.
"I thought he was an OK guy. I felt confused," Sciorra testified. "I felt ... like I wished I had never opened the door."

He showed up at her hotel room, Sciorra said

The attack left Sciorra shocked and traumatized, Hast told jurors Wednesday. She grew thin and sad, and began drinking and cutting herself, the prosecutor said.
Sciorra confronted Weinstein about the incident weeks later at a dinner in New York, the actress testified Thursday. His response was "very menacing," she said.
These are the women who plan to testify against Harvey Weinstein
"That's what all the nice Catholic girls say," he said, according to her testimony. He leaned into her and said, "This remains between you and I," she said
Less than a year after the alleged rape, Weinstein sought Sciorra out in London, where she was filming a movie. He showed up at her hotel room and became angry when she refused to open the door, Hast said.
At a different event at the Cannes Film Festival in France, Sciorra learned she was in a hotel room next door to Weinstein, the actress testified. One morning, she opened the door and found him standing there in his underwear, with a bottle of baby oil in one hand and a movie tape in the other, she said.
She ran to the back of her room and began hitting the call buttons on the hotel phone, she testified. Hotel employees eventually came and Weinstein left, she said.
Defense attorney Donna Rotunno pressed Sciorra on her lack of memory on specific details and dates.
In opening statements, the defense team told jurors Sciorra's friend will testify that she described having consensual sex with Weinstein.

Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Regret Leaving the Royal Family? - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

It’s a big step for Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex to leave their life as royals behind, as Harry shared their decision was not made lightly. The couple felt they had no other option for a peaceful life, but will they regret their decision? One royal expert shares why the couple may find the grass isn’t greener on the other side.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are giving up the royal life

After intense media and public scrutiny and the emotional interviews they gave for their documentary, it shouldn’t have been so surprising that Prince Harry and Meghan would announce they wanted to exit the royal family.

Queen Elizabeth worked to iron out the specifics and shared her support of their decision in a statement that noted: “Following many months of conversations and more recent discussions, I am pleased that together we have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family.

She continued: “Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family. I recognise the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life… It is my whole family’s hope that today’s agreement allows them to start building a happy and peaceful new life.”

The Sussexes felt there “was no other option”

The couple are giving up their HRH titles and any public funding as they transition to a life in Canada, a decision Prince Harry called their only option.

During a speech he gave at a London charity dinner, Prince Harry shared: “It brings me great sadness that it has come to this. The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly. It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges.

He added: “And I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”

Will they regret the decision?

They’ve given up their royal duties and Prince Harry had to give up his military titles, plus they’ll be repaying the taxpayer money used to refurbish their Frogmore Cottage home. There were sacrifices made, but they will keep their own private patronages and associations.

One royal commentator believes that Prince Harry may come to miss the old life he had. Richard Fitzwilliams told Express: “Although the agreement will be reviewed in a year’s time the Sussexes have, in reality, been exiled.”

He continued: “They are, however, among the most famous couples in the world and, as we are already seeing, an intrusive media cannot have enough of them.”

He shared: “Independence has its price! They may have a meteoric rise with top Hollywood celebrities to back them, but they will always be followed by the press. Meghan may be in her element, Harry may prove totally adaptable but he also could miss what he has given up.”

Fitzwilliams further claimed that Prince Harry’s “loss of his military links will “deeply upset Harry.” The expert noted, “Since he can no longer wear uniform, this is something he will feel deeply.”

Kate Middleton Just Subtly Proved How Sad She Is About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Exit Drama - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

How is Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge dealing with Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s decision to exit the royal family? While Prince William and Kate haven’t officially responded to the news that Meghan and Prince Harry are taking a “step back” from their royal duties, a body language expert believes that Kate has exhibited signs that she’s sad about the Sussexes’ exit.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s exit was approved by the queen

When Prince Harry and Meghan announced their plans to leave the royal family, there was some drama surrounding what would happen. Queen Elizabeth called a special meeting with Prince Harry, Prince William, and Prince Charles to work through the specifics, then issued a statement in support of their plan.

The queen noted: “Following many months of conversations and more recent discussions, I am pleased that together we have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family. I recognise the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life.”

Kate appears “sadder” after the exit decision

No one really knows what goes on behind the palace doors, but it’s interesting to look for hints that may reveal how everyone involved is dealing with Prince Harry and Meghan’s exit drama.

Body language expert Judi James broke down Kate’s gestures at a recent event with Prince William and found that the Duchess of Cambridge might be upset, especially given how close she’s been with Prince Harry over the years.

The Cambridges hosted the UK-Africa Investment Summit reception at Buckingham Palace and both were on full display so it was easy to analyze their body language.

James shared with Express how Kate was professional at the event, which was attended by Sophie Wessex, Prince Edward, and Princess Anne. Kate laughed with Sophie and seemed friendly with guests, but some of her quieter moments were revealing.

James told Express: “Like the Queen, Kate’s signature charisma involves continuity, meaning she tends to provide unchanging body language that is always upbeat, smiling and professional.”

James added: “Her personal sadness at Harry’s exit must be quite deep as the pair always seemed close, with Harry making Kate uncharacteristically giggly on many royal outings. But her overall demeanor as she supports her husband on his first solo hosting spot at the palace looks as calmly smiling as always.”

The body language expert did find some “sadder” moments, noting: “In between the smiles and laughter, though, there are a couple of glimpses of a sadder, more reflective facial expression, both in the car and just before she enters the room to go on the royal ‘stage,’ that might reveal some clues about her true emotions.”

Will Prince William and Kate have to “pick up the slack” now?

With Prince Harry and Meghan leaving their royal duties behind, there are concerns that the Cambridges will have to “pick up the slack,” as a palace source told The Mirror: “Harry and Meghan deciding to up sticks and leave without any thought about how it could affect them is pretty selfish.”

The source added: “If the Sussexes are only here half the year then it will fall to William and Kate to pick up the slack with more engagements, more pressure, and that has not even been considered.”

Express further reports that the Cambridges may have to “to take on more responsibility,” and “Kate may find herself stretched between home and work in her daily life.”

First reactions praise Taylor Swift documentary 'Miss Americana' as 'illuminating, empowering' - USA TODAY

Taylor Swift and director Lana Wilson received a rousing standing ovation onstage following the world premiere of their new documentary "Miss Americana," which opened the Sundance Film Festival Thursday night.

The Netflix-look behind the scenes of the popstar's life (available on streaming and select theaters Jan. 31) has already set off a social media frenzy, fueled further by Swift's candid revelations on body image issues and struggles to overcome an eating disorder.

Based on the early social media reaction, the assembled world's film media was impressed with the film and emotional insight.

"As someone who’s covered Taylor Swift’s music and career for news over the past decade, I found #MissAmericana to be a compelling snapshot," tweeted Piya Sinha-Roy, senior film editor for The Hollywood Reporter.

Sinha-Roy noted that big issues such as Swift's feud with former manager Scooter Braun are covered in the film, that "doesn’t address everything...but she’s taking charge of her narrative. Gotta respect that."

Leah Greenblatt, an EW critic, was surprised with the impact.

"Maybe not the most expected start to #Sundance2020 but the Taylor Swift doc #MissAmericana is smart and funny and intimate and feels like the kind of insight you actually want into a superstar," Greenblatt tweeted.

Ramin Setoodeh, Variety's New York bureau chief, tweeted "#MissAmericana is an illuminating, empowering portrait of Taylor Swift at a turning point in her career, a meditation on the loneliness of fame, and a study on why women — even very famous women — aren’t treated the same as men. #Sundance2020"

Leigh Blickley, senior, entertainment reporter with the Huffington Post, called the documentary "funny, sad and poignant" adding she "loved it."

Adam Chitwood, deputy editor for the entertainment site Collider, called the documentary "a fascinating and candid story of how an insanely famous artist who was trained to be nice and inoffensive reconciles her growth as a political and feminist human being in the public eye."

Kevin Fallon, senior entertainment reporter at the Daily Beast, went straight to the point. "I really liked #MissAmericana," he tweeted. "Taylor finally says her piece. It’s gratifying to watch. It’s fun, too."

Meghan Markle's dad admits he was 'jealous' Prince Charles walked her down the aisle at royal wedding - Fox News

Meghan Markle's dad was noticeably absent from her royal wedding ceremony to Prince Harry after suffering a heart attack and undergoing surgery.

Now, in a new documentary, Thomas Markle, 75, is opening up about what it felt like to watch Prince Harry's father, Prince Charles, escort his daughter, now 38, down the aisle at the St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in England on May 19, 2018.

Meghan's father admitted he felt "jealous" as the Prince of Wales was linked arm-in-arm with his daughter moments before she and Harry tied the knot. It was something he said he "really wanted to do," he told the U.K.'s Channel 5 (via DailyMail).

"My daughter looked beautiful. I wish that I could have been there with her. I certainly appreciated Charles was there. I admit I cried a bit about that. To this day I can't forget that moment," Thomas said in the documentary, according to the DailyMail.

Thomas' ex-wife, Doria Ragland, was in attendance at Meghan's wedding. Meghan's father originally had planned to attend the nuptials and walk her down the aisle.

However, days before, Thomas secured a staged photoshoot with paparazzi, leading tensions to run high between him and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Thomas then suffered a heart attack and missed the ceremony due to surgery.

Channel 5's 90-minute documentary with Meghan's father comes weeks after she and Prince Harry announced their decision to "step back" as senior members of the royal family. The couple, with the queen and Buckingham Palace's support, will split their time between the U.K. and North America.
