Pearl Jam announced they are postponing the North American leg of its Gigaton world tour due to concerns over the new coronavirus.

On Monday, the band said 17 of its U.S. and Canadian performances, beginning on March 18 in Toronto through April 19 in Oakland, Calif., were indefinitely postponed.

Pearl Jam said it was announcing the postponements “with deep frustration and regret."

“The levels of risk to our audience and their communities is simply too high for our comfort level," a band statement said. “Add to that we also have a unique group of passionate fans who travel far and wide. We’ve always been humbled by this and respect their energies and devotion. However in this case, travel is something to avoid."

New dates will be determined and current tickets will be honored for those dates, the band said.

Band members said they were personally being affected by the COVID-19 health fears. The band is from Washington state, where two dozen people have died, most of them at a Seattle-area nursing home.

“As residents of the city of Seattle, we’ve been hit hard and have witnessed firsthand how quickly these disastrous situations can escalate," the band said. “Our kids’ schools have closed along with universities and businesses. It’s been brutal.”

Band members also criticized a lack of clarity from the government when it comes to staying safe and going to work, saying they didn't believe the virus would be controlled in the coming weeks.

Max von Sydow, star of films from 'The Seventh Seal' to 'The Exorcist,' dead at 90 - CNN

Von Sydow passed away on Sunday, according to representatives at Diamond Management, which said "it is with a broken heart and with infinite sadness that we have the extreme pain of announcing the departure of Max."
He was a well-known figure in both European and American cinema, starring in films from Bergman's masterpiece "The Seventh Seal" to international blockbusters such as "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Born on April 10, 1929 in Lund, Sweden, von Sydow attended the acting school at Stockholm's Royal Dramatic Theatre before working in theaters in Norrköping and Malmö.
His star started to rise internationally after working with Bergman on a number of movies, with "The Seventh Seal" (1957) proving a particular catalyst.
This led to roles abroad, including Jesus in "The Greatest Story Ever Told" (1965) and Father Lankester Merrin in "The Exorcist" (1973).
He was nominated for Oscars for "Pelle the Conqueror" in 1988 and for "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" in 2012.
At almost 2 meters tall, with a slim build and a distinctive, gaunt face, von Sydow was a striking on-screen presence.
Industry figures including Edgar Wright, writer and director of movies such as "Baby Driver" and "Shaun of the Dead," were effusive in their tributes to the actor.
"Max Von Sydow, such an iconic presence in cinema for seven decades, it seemed like he'd always be with us," wrote Wright on Twitter.
"He changed the face of international film with Bergman, played Christ, fought the devil, pressed the HOT HAIL button & was Oscar nominated for a silent performance. A god."
Producer Jonathan Sothcott also paid homage on Twitter.
"RIP #MaxvonSydow a brilliant, brilliant actor and a true Hollywood legend," he wrote.
"We have lost one of the true greats."

Harry & Meghan Reunite With William & Kate for Final Royal Engagement - E! NEWS

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reunited with Prince William and Kate Middleton for the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in London on Monday.

They weren't the only members of the royal family in attendance. Queen Elizabeth IIPrince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall were all there, as well.

Neither the Duke and Duchess of Sussex nor the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took part in Her Majesty's official procession. While both couples walked with The Queen last year, they were escorted to their seats separately this time around. Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace have not commented on why the changes were made.

Meghan dazzled in a green Emilia Wickstead ensemble and William Chambers hat while Kate stunned in a red coatdress. William and Kate sat one row ahead of Meghan and Harry. Brief greetings were exchanged.

It had been a while since the "fab four" were seen together. In fact, the last time they were photographed at the same event was in November 2019 for a Remembrance Day event.

This marked Harry and Meghan's last official royal engagement. It also marked the first time they've been pictured with William and Kate since their bombshell announcement. Back in January, the Sussexes declared their intent to step back as "senior" members of the royal family. They also shared their plans to become financially independent and to split their time between the U.K. and North America.

After Harry met with The Queen and the Royal Households, an agreement was reached. It was determined that Harry and Meghan must step back from their royal duties, including military appointments, and that they will no longer receive public funds for such duties. It was also established that the couple may no longer formally represent Her Majesty. Although, The Queen made it clear that Harry, Meghan and Archie "will always be much loved members of my family."

While Harry and Meghan will keep their "HRH" titles, they will no longer actively use them. They will also retain their titles of Earl and Countess of Dumbarton and Baron and Baroness of Kilkeel. In addition, Harry will retain the ranks of Major, Lieutenant Commander and Squadron Leader.

Furthermore, they will keep their private patronages and associations.

Harry and Meghan will begin this next chapter starting March 31.

Before the announcement, there were rumors of tension between Harry and William and Meghan and Kate. Harry addressed reports of a rift with William in the ITV documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Journey.

"Inevitably stuff happens," he said. "But we're brothers, we'll always be brothers. We're certainly on different paths at the moment. I'll always be there for him and as I know, he'll always be there for me. We don't see each other as much as we used to because we're so busy but I love him dearly."

He also said that "the majority of stuff is created out of nothing."

"As brothers, we have good days and we have bad days," he added.

Max Von Sydow: Actor dies aged 90 - BBC News

Actor Max Von Sydow, who appeared in films and TV series including The Exorcist, Flash Gordon and Game of Thrones, has died at the age of 90.

His family announced "with a broken heart and infinite sadness" that the Swedish-born actor died on Sunday.

Von Sydow's other film credits included Hannah and Her Sisters, The Seventh Seal and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

He was nominated for two Oscars during his career - including best actor in 1998 for Pelle the Conqueror.

His other Academy nomination was best supporting actor for his role in 2011's Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.

He was nominated for an Emmy in 1990 for his role in the HBO thriller Red King, White Knight.

Von Sydow had a fruitful run of 11 films with Ingmar Bergman, including The Seventh Seal, in which he famously played chess with Death.

The actor also played Ming the Merciless in 1980's Flash Gordon and appeared in Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island and Steven Spielberg's Minority Report.

In 1983, Von Sydow played the sinister James Bond villain Ernst Blofeld in Never Say Never Again.

He was often typecast in Hollywood as the sophisticated villain, which the Associated Press said was down to him being "tall and lanky, with sullen blue eyes, a narrow face, pale complexion and a deep and accented speaking voice".

But, he once said in an interview: "What I as an actor look for is a variety of parts. It is very boring to be stuck in more or less one type of character."

Von Sydow continued acting late in life, voicing a character in The Simpsons in 2014, appearing in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015, and in three episodes of Game of Thrones in 2016, for which he earned a second Emmy nomination.

Director Edgar Wright led the tributes on Twitter, writing: "Max Von Sydow, such an iconic presence in cinema for seven decades, it seemed like he'd always be with us.

"He changed the face of international film with Bergman, played Christ, fought the devil, pressed the HOT HAIL button and was Oscar nominated for a silent performance. A god."

Film critic Guy Lodge said Von Sydow was "an actor who could bring great gravity to weightless junk, and quick, unpredictable humanity to, well, very grave films".

Von Sydow has four sons - two with his first wife Christina Inga Britta Olin. In 1997, he married Catherine Brelet in Provence and became a citizen of France five years later, meaning he had to relinquish his Swedish citizenship.

Royal Fans Think Meghan Markle Pushed Prince Harry Out of the Way in PDA Video - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

A moment captured on video between Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex shows a sweet PDA gesture, but some fans and critics believe it demonstrates Meghan being selfish and controlling. A dispute kicked off on Twitter over whether Meghan was touching Prince Harry gently on the back out of love or because she wanted him to step aside.

Meghan and Harry’s PDA was on display

Prince Harry and Meghan attended the Endeavour Fund Awards on Mar. 5, where they met with award attendees and chatted them up at the event. A video that showed Meghan placing a hand on Harry’s shoulder appeared to be a bit of subtle PDA, but some royal fans thought she was actually signaling him to move aside.

Daily Mail reporter Rebecca English posted the video to her Twitter account, captioning it, “some familiar Harry and Meghan PDA’S tonight.” Not everyone saw it quite that way, however, as they believed she was non-verbally telling him to step aside so she could speak with the guest.

Critics took aim, but others defended Meghan

A debate waged on, with fans and critics commenting on Twitter. One Twitter user noted: “That isn’t PDA. That was Meghan interrupting their conversation, pulling him back so she could step in front of him to take over the conversation. I don’t care, it’s their marriage and I will never judge about that. But the video is clear, please don’t mislead or sugar coat.”

Another fan agreed, tweeting: “I don’t see that as a PDA. she’s always touching him and guiding him, see how he gives way to her here… this happens constantly. I don’t like that…it’s not a PDA…it’s quite controlling.”

Still others tweeted: “That’s not PDA! That’s the familiar push him out of the way which she has always done” and “Always pushing herself in front of Harry.”

There were some who defended the Sussexes, however, with one fan tweeting: “So many body language specialists here. All these comments seem like we’re not all watching the same video. I just see a couple that clearly love and respect each other. Maybe the problem is that too many people aren’t familiar with what that looks and feels like?”

Another person tweeted: “She’s clearly nudging past him to introduce herself to the next person. She isn’t trying to take control, she’s trying to not be rude. They need to greet everyone and only have so much time.”

Tonight in London, for their third consecutive year, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the annual Endeavour Fund Awards, which celebrates the achievements of those veterans injured in service who have taken part in remarkable sporting and adventure challenges over the last year. By choosing to take on what seems impossible, these men and women not only set goals for themselves but have also inspired millions of people around the world. These annual awards bring together The Duke and The Duchess alongside wounded, injured and sick Service personnel and veterans as well as their families, friends and supporters of the military community. The Duke, who founded the @EndeavourFund, spoke on the night: • “The Endeavour Fund came from seeing the gaping hole that can be left after taking off that uniform. The power that sport and adventurous challenge plays in recovery, yes; but most of all – the chance to be part of a team again while attempting to achieve unthinkable challenges – as if being shot or blown up wasn’t enough, you guys continue to impress, inspire and challenge what it means to have a life changing injury.” • Since its launch in 2012, the Endeavour Fund has supported 108 projects that have directly assisted over 6,000 of those injured in service. Congratulations to all those who participated in endeavours over the last year and inspired others to push the boundaries of what’s possible! #EndeavorFundAwards

Their body language was revealing

Body language expert Judi James noted that Meghan’s look at the event was “a much more showbiz looking version” of her, telling Express that Meghan’s “dazzling smile completed the look.”

“Harry’s eyes gleamed with delight and his wide, upturned smile that bared his upper teeth and rounded his blushing cheeks suggested happiness and pride as he led his wife by the arm,” James added. “This appearance as a couple looked all about sending signals of unity and happiness.”

“This suggests the move away from the royal firm was a decision they both endorsed and that they both gained strength from,” she noted.
