Coachella is postponed. The latest on refunds, Airbnb response - Los Angeles Times

On Tuesday, concert promoter Goldenvoice announced that the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is being postponed due to the growing threat of coronavirus.

Coachella was expected to draw 250,000 fans over the weekends of April 10 and 17 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. The multiday concerts will be held instead on the weekends of Oct. 9 and 16. The dates for Stagecoach, Coachella’s country music counterpart also held at the Empire Polo Club, are being moved from April 24-26 to Oct. 23-25.

“All purchases for the April dates will be honored for the rescheduled October dates,” Goldenvoice said in its announcement. “Purchasers will be notified by Friday, March 13, on how to obtain a refund if they are unable to attend.”

But for attendees whose plans to attend to the concert included flights or lodging arrangements, changes or cancellations could become complicated.

Airbnb recommends that guests speak with their host to see if they are willing to alter the reservation to take place at a later date since the event has been postponed. Any cancellations would be determined by the host’s cancellation policy.

The move follows Riverside County declaring a public health emergency after confirming its first case of coronavirus this week. The current total of COVID-19 cases in the county is six.

Some airlines and hotels have begun waiving fees for changes and cancellations in some situations in response to the outbreak. Marriott and Wyndham are among hotel chains waiving fees for guests traveling to and from certain locations for stays through March 30.

Airbnb has also recently expended its extenuating circumstances policy to include some cancellations as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

Guests who are traveling to or from certain “severely impacted areas” — including mainland China, Italy and South Korea — could qualify for a full refund under the policy if reservations were made by a certain date (varies by location) for a check-in of April 1 or earlier.

Airbnb’s website also states that with documentation, the extenuating circumstances policy could also apply to cancellations made in order to comply with restrictions implemented by relevant authorities or if transportation has been canceled because of the outbreak. Anybody diagnosed with or suspected of having COVID-19 can also get a refund.

However, those seeking to cancel their Airbnb reservations because of the cancellation of SXSW have reportedly been told that their situation is not covered under the extenuating circumstances policy and that refunds would be issued only if travel restrictions were in place.

'The Bachelor' Fans Are Split on Whether Barbara Weber Badmouthed Madison Prewett in Spanish - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

The Bachelor finale has come and gone, but fans are still reeling from the events of last night. And while it wasn’t the incredibly original ending that Chris Harrison promised fans, it certainly was dramatic. A large part of that drama actually stemmed from someone who wasn’t even a contestant on the show. Bachelor Nation was stunned by the way Peter Weber’s mother, Barbara Weber, acted towards Madison Prewett.

[Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers for The Bachelor finale.]

Peter Weber’s family was thrilled he got engaged to Hannah Ann Sluss

It was no surprise that Barbara Weber favored Hannah Ann Sluss over Prewett after meeting them both. She literally begged Weber to bring Sluss home to his family. So when Weber chose to get engaged to Sluss, his family was over the moon. Sadly, their engagement was short-lived and he broke things off with Sluss in large part because of his love for Prewett.

Madison Prewett and Weber agreed to try out a relationship

In a strange twist, Chris Harrison went to Auburn, Alabama to give Prewett an update on the bachelor. Prewett then surprised Weber at his home and professed her love for him. When the Alabama native was brought out during After The Final Rose, the pair revealed that they hadn’t seen each other since that day. However, they agreed to take things day by day and try to pursue a relationship with one another.

A quick recap of ‘The Bachelor’ finale 2020

While plenty of Bachelor Nation fans seemed to be supportive of Prewett and Weber entering into a relationship together, one person who wasn’t pleased was Barbra Weber. She expressed that she had strong reservations towards Prewett because of her behavior in Australia. The bachelor’s mother claimed that Prewett was three hours late to meet her and her family, offered no apology, and didn’t even want to meet them in the first place. She also maintained that Prewett declared that she was not in love with Weber when prompted and said she had no intention of accepting a proposal.

It was clear that Barabara Weber was getting backlash from The Bachelor live audience when she expressed her reluctance to support Prewett’s relationship with her son. That’s when Harrison turned to Weber’s dad, Peter Weber Sr. to ask for his thoughts. Before he could get a word out Barbara Weber whispered something to her husband in Spanish that sent Bachelor Nation into a tizzy.

Fans argue over the Spanish words on Twitter

Some Bachelor fans are convinced that Weber’s mother said “Dile algo mal también, ayudame,” which translates to “say something bad too, help me.” and they quickly expressed their outrage about the situation. “Wow!!! I thought I saw that. Kudos to Madi for taking the high road!!! It’s not about Madi and mom… it’s about Peter and Madi. Mom…butt out!!! And like somebody said…Madi is someone’s daughter too. It was her journey too,” one fan wrote on Twitter clearly favoring Prewett.

However other members of Bachelor Nation (who are also native Spanish speakers) heard something else entirely and they were quick to jump to Barbara Weber’s defense. “No that’s incorrect I heard her say “Dile algo más también, ayudama!” Translation- “Say something more also- help me.” That’s what she said pls don’t confuse it,” one person pleaded about the situation.

Was ‘The Bachelor’ 2020 the worst season yet?

This season of The Bachelor might be over, but it’s clear that the drama is just heating up. We have no idea how Prewett and Weber will be able to make a relationship work with this level of hostility from his family. And while Bachelor Nation is split on whether they are Team Madison or Team Barbara, we’re just pleased that this dumpster fire of a season is finally over.

Has Peter Weber Replaced Juan Pablo and Arie Luyendyk Jr. as the Worst 'Bachelor'? - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

The Bachelor finale 2020 concludes tonight, and for fans who haven’t seen spoilers, it’s anyone’s guess as to what Peter Weber will do. Though the genial pilot wasn’t the overwhelming favorite of Hannah Brown’s season, when he was selected as The Bachelor, he had a ton of support. Unfortunately, for Weber, that support has significantly wavered in the past several months.

Backlash for Weber started brewing long before The Bachelor finale began airing. The 28-year-old pilot was called out by fans and contestants alike for constantly rewarding drama rather than deepening his relationships. Furthermore, his constant bickering with eliminated contestant, Victoria Fuller, and his apparent need to have his contestants cry in order to see that their feelings were “genuine and real”, raised red flags for Bachelor Nation. But, nothing compares to the backlash that Weber needs to prepare for once fans have seen The Bachelor finale.

A quick recap on ‘The Bachelor’ finale 2020 part 1

To recap on what fans have seen thus far on The Bachelor finale, Weber is down to only one contestant, Hannah Ann Sluss. In a surprising move, Weber’s other contestant, Madison Prewett, self-eliminated because she thought their lifestyles were too different. Furthermore, Weber’s family met Sluss for the first time and made it no secret that the preferred her to Prewett. Calling Sluss an “angel on earth” they failed to see why Weber’s heart was torn between someone who was “perfect” with no issues and one who “raised red flags.” This made for a pretty messy start to The Bachelor finale, but thanks to Reality Steve and his spoilers, we know things are about to get a whole lot messier.

Reality Steve shares spoilers of what will happen tonight

There are a lot of moving parts for The Bachelor finale, but the biggest shockers center around Weber’s behavior. On March 9, 2020, Reality Steve updated his spoilers. According to the popular blogger, Sluss considers leaving but ultimately makes the choice to stay. Weber then proposes to the Knoxville native and the two get engaged in Australia. However, soon after, Weber pulled an Arie Luyendyk Jr. and broke things off with Sluss to pursue a relationship with Prewett.

Will Peter Weber propose to Madison Prewett live and secure a second engagement?

The one thing that Reality Steve’s spoilers don’t tell us about The Bachelor finale is where Weber and Prewett stand now. Reality Steve believes the pair are together, but it’s been a long journey to get there. The blogger did say it’s possible that Weber would propose to Prewett and that’s why Chris Harrison keeps saying “even Peter doesn’t know how his season will end.” But, we guess Bachelor Nation will have to tune in tonight to get answers to that question.

Fans are dragging Weber on Twitter

After reading spoilers for The Bachelor finale 2020 many fans are extremely frustrated with Weber and they have no qualms about making their ire known. Weber is getting called “the worst” and many fans of The Bachelor are adamant that both Sluss and Prewett deserve better. “The only thing that could redeem this season is if Madison flips it around and dumps Peter on national tv, truly have never seen that happen and it would be justified,” one fan tweeted out.

“This has been a waste of a season. Peter is as bad as Juan Pablo and Arie Luyendyk if not worse,” another person said in reaction to the spoilers.”I didn’t watch Juan Pablo but from what I heard, he didn’t tell multiple women he loved them and he did make one decision, right? Peter has just been masking how douchy he is by acting like a puppy dog. Not buying it,” yet another person added.

Only time will tell how the rest of Bachelor Nation reacts to The Bachelor Finale 2020. But, if these spoilers are to be believed, things don’t look great for Weber.

Coachella music festival may be rescheduled due to coronavirus - Los Angeles Times

As the coronavirus continues to spread and upend travel plans and day-to-day life, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is set to become the latest casualty.

Multiple sources report that Coachella promoter Goldenvoice is in talks with artists to move the 2020 edition of the event, which was set to take place on two consecutive weekends starting April 10, to Oct. 9 and 16. It is also working to move the Stagecoach country music festival to a fall weekend.

Coachella, which occurs every April at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, is slated to feature more than 150 acts, with Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott and Frank Ocean as headliners. Set for April 24-26, Stagecoach touts a lineup led by Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood and Eric Church.

Coachella is expected to draw 250,000 fans over its two weekends.

Neither Goldenvoice nor its parent company, AEG, has made an announcement concerning the fate of the festivals.

The possible postponements follow SXSW’s announcement on Friday that the city of Austin had pulled the plug on its March series of music, media and film conferences. On Sunday, organizers for the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, not far from Indio, canceled the annual tennis tournament after the Riverside County Public Health Department confirmed the first local case of coronavirus and declared a public health emergency.

Days later, three new cases were announced in Riverside County.

As of Monday, at least 545 people were confirmed to have contracted the virus in the U.S., with at least 22 deaths.

Long considered the kickoff to the spring and summer concert season, Coachella and Stagecoach have pumped both cultural and commercial energy into the Southern California music scene for 21 years. Palm Springs-area merchants work the April festival windfalls into their budgets. Thousands of temporary workers relocate to the area to service the 250,000 festival attendees, who inject well over $700 million into the region’s economy.

Addressing the coronavirus situation last Wednesday, Riverside County director of public health Kim Saruwatari, whose purview includes Indio, told The Times that the county had been reaching out to event organizers to confer.

“We’re not ready to pull the trigger on anything, but we want to make sure we can protect the community,” Saruwatari said. “This virus is changing day by day, hour by hour. We’re monitoring it very closely. We’re going to do our best to give advance notice, but it’s a fluid situation, and if we have to make a decision late we’ll do that.”

The possible postponement by Goldenvoice is the latest in a series of disruptions related to the virus’ spread. In addition to the cancellation of SXSW, the Ultra Music Festival in Miami postponed its annual electronic music showcase earlier this month. On Monday, rock band Pearl Jam postponed the North American leg of its upcoming tour.

The fate of Coachella is being watched closely by the promoters of the season’s other major outdoor music festivals, including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza.

Angelina Jolie talks about daughters' surgeries - CNN

In an essay written in honor of International Women's Day for Time, the actress writes that she has "spent the last two months in and out of surgeries with my eldest daughter, and days ago watched her younger sister go under the knife for a hip surgery.
"They know that I am writing this, because I respect their privacy and we discussed it together and they encouraged me to write."
Angelina Jolie: What we must do for Afghan women
"They understand that going through medical challenges and fighting to survive and heal is something to be proud of."
The star has been outspoken about women and issues affecting them, including in a piece written for CNN.
She and ex-husband Brad Pitt are the parents of 18-year-old son Maddox, 16-year-old son Pax, 15-year-old daughter Zahara, 13-year-old daughter Shiloh and 11-year-old twins Vivienne and her brother Knox.

'Care for them'

"I have watched my daughters care for one another," Jolie wrote. "My youngest daughter studied the nurses with her sister, and then assisted the next time. I saw how all my girls so easily stopped everything and put each other first, and felt the joy of being of service to those they love."
The "Maleficent" star didn't identify which of her younger daughters had surgery, and said her sons have been "supportive and sweet" of their sisters.
Jolie used the piece to make the call for her wish "that we value girls."
"Care for them," she wrote. "And know that the stronger they grow, the healthier they will be and the more they will give back to their family and community."
