Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson isolated at hospital 'in stable condition' after coronavirus diagnosis, officials say - Fox News

Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson are "in stable condition" at an Australian hospital after they were diagnosed with coronavirus.

Officials shared an update on the American actors on Thursday after Hanks shared on Instagram that he and Wilson were fully cooperating with the country's medical requirements after testing positive for COVID-19.

The couple is being treated at a Queensland hospital and are in isolation, Australian officials said Thursday.

“We wish them a very speedy recovery," state Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk told reporters.

Hanks had been in Australia shooting an untitled Elvis Presley biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann. Hanks plays Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker. The film, slated for release in October 2021, has suspended production, Warner Bros. said.

Hanks said he and Wilson had felt tired, with colds, aches and slight fevers. “To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus and were found to be positive," he said, adding they'll be "isolated for as long as public health and safety requires.”

The couple's son Chet Hanks said his parents, both 63, are doing well.

"What up everyone. Yeah, it's true, my parents got coronavirus. Crazy," said Chet on Instagram. "They're both down in Australia right now because my dad was shooting a movie down there but I just got off the phone with them. They both are fine, they're not even that sick."

Chet continued, explaining that his parents aren't worried nor are they "trippin' but they're going through the necessary health precautions..."

"I appreciate everyone's concern and the well wishes but I think it's all going to be alright but I appreciate it and just, everybody stay safe out there," Chet concluded. "Much love."

Wilson had performed at the Sydney Opera House on Saturday night and earlier last week in Brisbane.

Queensland health authorities would not give specifics on their health due to privacy issues. But the state's update on its coronavirus infections describe a U.S. couple of their age, both in stable condition.

Palaszczuk said people who had been in close contact with Hanks and Wilson will have to self-quarantine but she cautioned that people who had taken selfies with Hanks recently should not panic about contracting the virus.

Kate Beckinsale reveals Harvey Weinstein screamed at her for not dressing sexy on a post-9/11 red carpet - Fox News

Kate Beckinsale shared a shocking story about verbal abuse and sexual harassment she said she endured from the now-convicted rapist and former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Weinstein, who has been accused of violating scores of women, was convicted last month of raping a woman in a New York City hotel room in 2013 and forcibly performing oral sex on another woman at his apartment in 2006. He faced a maximum of 29 years in prison but was given 23.

Beckinsale, who previously detailed stories about Weinstein being inappropriate with her, took to Instagram to remark on the disgraced Hollywood big shot’s sentence and share a cautionary tale about the battles women still have to face in show business.

HARVEY WEINSTEIN SENTENCE: WHAT IT MEANS FOR HIS FAMILY AND WHAT'S NEXT IN THE CALIFORNIA CRIMINAL CASE

The actress posted an image of herself at the Oct. 5, 2001 premiere of the movie “Serendipity.” Given that the premiere was in New York City, shortly after 9/11, she noted that she didn’t want to attend at all, writing that with “the city still smoking felt like the most insensitive, tone-deaf, disrespectful idea possible. However, Weinstein allegedly insisted that the red carpet event happen all the same.

To keep things tasteful, she wore a billowy, all-white suit and tie, which she would soon learn outraged Weinstein.

“The next morning Harvey called me and asked if I would like to bring my less than two year old daughter to his house for a playdate with his similar aged daughter [and] I said ok,” she shared. “I turned up and he immediately called for his nanny to take the babies to another room to play. I went to go with them and he said 'No, you wait here.'”

That’s when Weinstein allegedly laid into her with a verbal and sexually aggressive tirade about her attire the previous night.

“The minute the door closed he started screaming ‘you stupid f---ing C---, you C--- you ruined my premiere.’ I had no idea what he was talking about and started to shake. He said, ‘If I am throwing a red carpet you get in a tight dress, you shake your a-- you shake your t--s you do not go down it looking like a f---ing lesbian you stupid f---ing c---.”

She explained in the post that the screaming, coming from the powerful producer, made her start to cry. She tried to explain that she felt it would have been in bad taste given the loss of lives just weeks prior, to come out “dressed like it’s a bachelor party.”

Weinstein reportedly shot back: “I don’t care -it’s my f---ing premiere and if I want p---y on the red carpet, that’s what I get.”

She recalled immediately getting her child out of there and noted that it was not the last time that Weinstein would scream at her for disagreeing with him. She also highlighted the fact that the behavior, while abhorrent, was not illegal and therefore not something she could really do something about.

“Hearing that he has gone to prison for 23 years is a huge relief to me on behalf of all the women he sexually assaulted or raped, and I hope will be a deterrent to that sort of behavior in this and any other industry,” Beckinsale concluded. “Having said that, the crimes that are not crimes, the inhumane bullying and sick covert abuse for which there is STILL no recourse no matter who you tell(and I did tell), these too need to go. I hope and pray that we as an industry can start to actually outlaw all abuses of power and expose them and eliminate them, for all genders.”

A representative for Weinstein had no comment when reached by Fox News.

In 2017, shortly after exposes about Weinstein prompted a slew of women to come forward and share their stories about suffering abuse at his hand, Beckinsale revealed that Weinstein had spoken to her like that in the past but gave few details. At the time, she recalled meeting him at age 17 and feeling like he was hitting on her even then.

She recalled Weinstein later asking her if he tried anything when they first met.

Kate Beckinsale: Harvey Weinstein encounter 'left in tears' - BBC News

Kate Beckinsale has said Harvey Weinstein was verbally abusive towards her after a film premiere in 2001.

The actress alleges she was left in tears after Weinstein objected to an outfit she wore to a premiere, which he said made her "look like a lesbian".

The disgraced movie producer was sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape and sexual assault on Wednesday.

Representatives for Weinstein said he was unable to respond to Beckinsale's claims.

White suit instead of a dress

In an Instagram post which contains highly offensive language, Beckinsale uploaded a picture of her outfit and recalled her encounter with Weinstein.

The actress said she was reluctant to attend the premiere for her film Serendipity because it took place less than a month after the 9/11 terror attacks, which she says felt "disrespectful".

But Beckinsale claims Weinstein, whose entertainment company Miramax distributed the film, "insisted" the premiere go ahead.

The actress agreed to attend the event as a result and was photographed attending wearing a white suit on 5 October, 2001.

However, she alleges, Weinstein invited her to his house so their young daughters could have a playdate the following morning, where he was verbally abusive towards her.

Beckinsale says Weinstein told her she had "ruined" his premiere by wearing the outfit.

"He said: 'If I am throwing a red carpet you get in a tight dress, you shake your ass... you do not go down it looking like a lesbian'," Beckinsale recalled in the post.

The actress said she was "screaming" and livid" after the exchange, which made her "burst into tears".

Beckinsale said her two-year-old daughter and Weinstein's young daughter were in the house at the time, but being looked after by Weinstein's nanny in a separate room.

"I managed to get myself and my child out of there and yes that was one of many experiences I had that there was no recourse for, and falls under no felony," Beckinsale said.

Some of the actress's followers questioned the timing of her Instagram post and asked why she had waited until after Weinstein's trial and sentencing to tell the story.

Dozens of women have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct, including rape, against Weinstein since October 2017.

He has consistently denied wrongdoing and his lawyers have vowed to appeal against his conviction for rape and sexual assault.

Speaking in court on Wednesday, Weinstein saying he had "deep remorse" but described him and other men as "totally confused" by events, in comments seen as critical to the #MeToo movement.

Hours after being sentenced, Weinstein was taken to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan with chest pains, a spokesman said. He had heart surgery after his conviction.

Actress Reese Witherspoon welcomed Weinstein's sentencing, writing on Twitter: "A historical moment today. I am so appreciative of the women and men who spoke up about the abuse and harassment they suffered at the hands of Harvey Weinstein."

In her Instagram post, Beckinsale said the movie mogul's prison sentence was "a huge relief to me on behalf of all the women he sexually assaulted or raped, and I hope will be a deterrent to that sort of behaviour in this and any other industry."

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry 'crushed' after 'unnecessarily cruel' Megxit, expert says - Fox News

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made the difficult decision to step back as senior members of the royal family because the pair felt they had no other choice, according to one royal expert.

Omid Scobie, royal editor of HarpersBazaar.com, says he witnessed the Sussexes' first photoshoot as a couple in 2017 and followed the pair closely throughout their many royal engagements over the years, up until Meghan's tearful goodbye at Buckingham Palace this week.

Now, the expert claims the Duke and Duchess of Sussex "never" expected to make such a bold departure. Instead, he believes they were forced out.

KATE MIDDLETON HAS TAKEN MEGHAN MARKLE, PRINCE HARRY’S FINAL EXIT ‘BADLY,’ INSIDER CLAIMS

"To say they were crushed is an understatement," Scobie wrote of Harry and Meghan's realization that Megxit was the next step.

The expert claimed the couple's decision is one they "still feel wasn't necessary" but the pair was "left with no other choice but to create their own change after being left to fend for themselves" -- even amid Meghan's pregnancy.

"They knew something had to change, but they also didn't want to stop supporting the queen. One can't help but wonder if things might have been different if a family member or two had stood up for them during the darkest times," Scobie continued.

Jan. 8 marked the day Meghan and Harry stunned the world and their families with the announcement of their impending departure as senior royals. Meghan reportedly left for Canada on Monday as Prince Harry stayed back in the U.K. following the Commonwealth Day Service.

Meghan and Harry are "very much hurting," Scobie claims.

Prince Harry is also reeling from having to give up his military honors after serving in the British army for 10 years, Scobie added, calling it a "wound that will take time to heal."

Scobie's claims come amid reports Prince William's wife, Kate Middleton, is particularly struggling with Prince Harry's exit.

A source close to the palace told Vanity Fair royal correspondent Katie Nicholl that the Duchess of Cambridge feels “very sad” about the couple’s last appearance before stepping down as senior royals.

Scobie concluded Megxit is a dark ending for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle left 'crushed' after 'unnecessarily cruel' Megxit - Page Six

“To say they were crushed is an understatement,” a top royal expert has revealed about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s exit from the British Royal Family, saying it was “unnecessarily cruel,” adding, “things might have been different if a family member or two had stood up for them during the darkest times.”

Omid Scobie, Bazaar.com’s royal editor at large and a journalist in Harry and Meghan’s inner circle, has revealed how the couple had ultimately felt Megxit “wasn’t necessary,” but they were forced into it after being, “left to fend for themselves against impossible circumstances — even during her pregnancy,” as the British establishment turned its back on the couple.

Scobe also writes of Meghan’s tears as they — “a couple very much hurting” — said goodbye to their team plus Prince Harry’s heartbreak at giving up his military honors, describing it as, “a wound that will take time to heal.” Harry served in the British army for 10 years, completing two tours in Afghanistan and rising to the rank of captain before he founded the Invictus Games for wounded veterans.

Scobie writes in his moving account of Harry and Meghan’s final days as senior royals, “To say they were crushed is an understatement. It’s a decision that the couple still feel wasn’t necessary, but also wasn’t a surprise, given the lack of support they received as they were relentlessly attacked by sections of the British press with almost daily mistruths and hateful commentary.

“While recent tabloid coverage has made it seem like the Sussexes’ half-in-half-out bid was about wanting it all, the reality was a couple who were left with no other choice but to create their own change after being left to fend for themselves against impossible circumstances — even during her pregnancy.”

“They knew something had to change, but they also didn’t want to stop supporting the queen. One can’t help but wonder if things might have been different if a family member or two had stood up for them during the darkest times.”

Scobie accompanied Harry and Megyn during their final few royal engagements in the UK in the past few days, including their show-stopping appearance at the Mountbatten Festival of Music. He writes, “Harry’s lifelong commitment is why Saturday’s Mountbatten Festival of Music was a particularly difficult moment, wearing his Captain General of the Royal Marines uniform for the last time.”

Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex

“Giving up his royal duties has resulted in his military honors coming to an end — a particularly tough pill to swallow and something that has been just as difficult for his wife to witness. It is, a source close to the couple tells me, a wound that will take time to heal for Harry.”

Finally, after Meghan had made a heartfelt speech to celebrate International Women’s Day at a school in east London, Scobie described the couple’s final moment in Buckingham Palace’s 1844 Room — a distinguished room where the royal family receives important visitors. “The emotions finally set in as I give Meghan a goodbye hug. She’s flying back to Canada on the last commercial flight of the day, eager to be back in Vancouver Island by the morning before Archie wakes up.”

“For a couple who only ever wanted to focus on their work and bring good to the world, it seems like an unnecessarily cruel ending to their royal lives. Forced to give up roles they’re incredibly proud of after sacrificing so much to get there.”

Scobie describes how a defiantly smiling-to-the-end Meghan could finally shed some tears, “At this point, the 1844 Room is almost empty and tears that the Duchess had been bravely holding back are free to flow among familiar faces. As she embraces some of the loyal staff she will most likely not see again, I can’t help but feel sad for the dedicated team members whose tireless efforts — to promote the couple’s work, launch landmark projects, and deal with the near-daily crises brought on by tabloid lies — have come to an abrupt end.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Prince Harry and Meghan MarkleGetty Images

“Getting on with the work has always been what it’s been about for Harry and Meghan, but behind the smiles of the photos has been a vulnerable couple who are still very much hurting.”

“While the weeks and months ahead will no doubt present new challenges for the Sussexes, the couple genuinely feel a sense of excitement about what’s to come, which includes the freedom to work at a pace that suits them, no longer weighed down by protocol or threatened by toxic agendas.”

“And while much has been (incorrectly) speculated about specific commercial endeavors they might be taking on, both Harry and Meghan are eager to get stuck into their work, which will still revolve around their humanitarian efforts and helping amplify the voices of young people around the world on a wide gamut of issues.”

“The terrain may be a little different but their priorities are exactly the same as before,” a well-placed source tells me. “Keeping the family, most importantly Archie, safe is what will make all of this worth it.”

Kate Beckinsale Recounts Shocking Harvey Weinstein Incident After 'Serendipity' Premiere - Hollywood Reporter

Beckinsale detailed a 2001 meeting with the disgraced Hollywood mogul in which he told her, "If I am throwing a red carpet you get in a tight dress, you shake your ass."

Following Harvey Weinstein's sentencing to 23 years in a New York State prison Wednesday morning, actress Kate Becksinale recounted a 2001 incident with the fallen Hollywood mogul that left her in tears.

Sharing her story on Instagram, the 46-year-old Underworld actress detailed a meeting with Weinstein that occurred a day after the New York premiere of Serendipity.

"These photos were taken at the premiere of Serendipity on October 5,2001. We all refused to go because holding a premiere mere weeks after 9/11 with the city still smoking felt like the most insensitive, tone deaf, disrespectful idea possible," Beckinsale began her post.

She continued that Weinstein "insisted" on the premiere, and the morning after, Beckinsale and her toddler daughter Lily were invited to his home for a playdate with Weinstein's own daughter.

"I turned up and he immediately called for his nanny to take the babies to another room to play. I went to go with them and he said 'No, you wait here.' The minute the door closed he started screaming 'you stupid fucking CUNT, you CUNT you ruined my premiere.' I had no idea what he was talking about and started to shake," Beckinsale wrote.

"If I am throwing a red carpet you get in a tight dress, you shake your ass you shake your tits you do not go down it looking like a fucking lesbian you stupid fucking cunt," Weinstein told the actress, according to Beckinsale's post.

"The shock made me burst into tears," Beckinsale continued. "I tried to say 'Harvey, the city is on fire, people are still looking for their relatives none of us even felt the premiere was appropriate much less coming out dressed like it’s a bachelor party .' He said, 'I don’t care - it’s my fucking premiere and if I want pussy on the red carpet that’s what I get.'"

Beckinsale wrote how she and her child left Weinstein's home following that meeting, and expressed how "that was one of many experiences I had that there was no recourse for, and falls under no felony."

She continued though that she has been "punished for it, and for other instances where I said no to him for years, insidiously and seeming irreversibly."

The actress expressed that Weinstein's sentencing is "a huge relief  to me on behalf of all the women he sexually assaulted or raped, and I hope will be a deterrent to that sort of behavior in this and any other industry."

She closed her post by noting that "the crimes that are not crimes" and "the inhumane bullying and sick covert abuse for which there is STILL no recourse no matter who you tell" need to be eradicated from the industry.

"I hope and pray that we as an industry can start to actually outlaw all abuses of power and expose them and eliminate them, for all genders, forever," Beckinsale concluded.

Weinstein's sentencing ends his New York trial, which began Jan. 6. His team has said they will appeal the jury's decision to convict him on two of the five charges he faced.  The team has said they do not know when he would be arraigned on the four charges he faces in Los Angeles County.
