'The Bachelor': Madison Prewett and Peter Weber Announce Breakup on Instagram - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

[Spoiler alert: The Bachelor Season 24.] On March 10, ABC aired The Bachelor Season 24 finale. And as promised by host Chris Harrison, it was truly the most dramatic ending yet. The live episode wrapped in an uncomfortable silence after Peter Weber chose Madison Prewett over Hannah Ann Sluss and the Weber family publicly voiced their disapproval of the bachelor’s final choice. The couple said they were in love and wanted to take their relationship one day at a time. Now, two days later, Prewett and Weber revealed they are no longer together, announcing their breakup on Instagram.

Peter Weber announces his split with Madison Prewett on Instagram

The Bachelor fans have been waiting to hear from Prewett and Weber since they left the After the Final Rose taping on March 10. Unlike most couples within the franchise, Prewett and Weber did not make the media rounds. So when the 28-year-old pilot finally addressed Bachelor Nation fans after the show wrapped, everyone was shocked.

At around 9 p.m. PST on March 12, Weber posted about his breakup with Prewett on Instagram. He kicked off the post by thanking his Bachelor cast.

“I want to start by acknowledging the incredible group of women that I had the privilege of getting to know this season,” Weber wrote. “Thank you for coming on this journey with me. I learned so many lessons from all of you that I will carry with me.”

Pilot Pete followed with a thank you note to Prewett. “Madi, thank you for your patience and unconditional love,” he wrote. “You’re the epitome of a woman who carries herself with grace, stands by what she believes in, and loves whole heartedly. That love is something I feel so grateful to have felt and will take a piece of that with me always going forward.”

Then Weber dropped the news of his split with Prewett, explaining why they landed on the decision. “Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further,” Weber wrote. “Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure.”

The bachelor also thanked Sluss while simultaneously taking the blame for their breakup. “Hannah Ann, you set an example for women everywhere a couple nights ago,” he wrote. “You are such a strong, confident woman and you deserve all the love in the world. I accept full responsibility for my mistakes in our relationship and wish you only the best.”

Weber concluded his statement by thanking his friends and family. “This has been an emotional experience and I am so grateful for the outreach of support that I have received from friends, family, and Bachelor Nation in the last few days,” he wrote. “Thank you to all of you! This is just a another chapter in my story. One I will never forget and one I will always cherish.”

Madison Prewett posts about her breakup with Peter Weber on Instagram

Meanwhile, Prewett addressed her breakup with Weber on her own Instagram account. And like the bachelor, the Auburn alum was thankful for the journey and looked forward to the future.

“So incredibly thankful for this amazing journey I’ve had the honor of being a part of,” Prewett said. “I have grown so much and am stronger than I was going in. I have learned the importance of acceptance, forgiveness, and grace.”

She continued: “As Peter and I have decided to go our separate ways, I am confident that we will both move in the direction of our purpose and never forget that God has a plan in all things. I will always love and respect him. I am convinced our paths were meant to cross and we are both better because they did. @pilot_pete you are an amazing guy and I’m thankful for you. I will always be your biggest fan.”

Then Prewett ended her statement by giving The Bachelor team a brief shout-out. “And to the amazing women I met this season, I will love you for life,” she said. “Thank you @abcnetwork for allowing me to embark on this journey. “

During The Bachelor finale, it was clear Prewett and Weber had a challenge ahead of them if they wanted to be together. On the evening of March 11, Harrison told Entertainment Tonight Weber wanted to work towards piecing his life back together, including “his relationship with Madison, his relationship with his family.” He also suggested that Weber “take a break, unplug, get away” because “this too shall pass.”

Now with Prewett and Weber’s breakup announcement on Instagram, hopefully the bachelor is able to mend all the relationships within his life and move forward.

Paramount delays the release of A Quiet Place Part II indefinitely due to coronavirus fears - The Verge

Paramount is delaying the release of A Quiet Place Part II indefinitely due to concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus. The film follows other major film delays, including the upcoming James Bond thriller No Time To Die (delayed to November) and Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (which was been moved to August).

The delay of A Quiet Place Part II marks the most drastic film cancellation yet, coming just eight days before it was scheduled to be released. As noted by The Hollywood Reporter’s Tatiana Siegel on Twitter, unlike the other delayed films, Paramount had already made its entire marketing spend to promote the movie, meaning that delaying this film will be an even costlier decision than No Time To Die or Peter Rabbit 2.

In a tweet announcing the delay, director John Krasinski commented that “due to the ever-changing circumstances of what’s going on in the world around us, now is clearly not the right time” to release the film.

‘Fast & Furious 9’ Release Pushed Back a Year Due to Coronavirus - Variety

“Fast 9” has pushed back its theatrical release date by a year.

Universal Studios, the company behind the “Fast & Furious” franchise, made the decision because of the impact that the fast-moving coronavirus is having on the global economy and the distribution landscape. Theaters remain closed in Italy, South Korea and China, where the virus has hit hardest. There’s also a mounting sense that some theaters will close in the U.S. as the outbreak continues to spread. “Fast 9” will now open globally in April 2021 and in the U.S. on April 2.

Vin Diesel made the announcement on social media. “We feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga,” he wrote. “That’s why it’s especially tough to let you know that we have to move the release date of the film. It’s become clear that it won’t be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May.”

“While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration,” Diesel added.

Several high-profile releases have moved their release date as the rate of infection has increased. “A Quiet Place Part II” has opted not to premiere in March and the James Bond adventure “No Time to Die” moved from April to November. These moves come at a cost. There’s often tens of millions of dollars in lost marketing revenue.

The “Fast & Furious” movies carry budgets of over $200 million and with their fast cars and crazy stunts, are designed to play well with international audiences. Roughly 75% of the gross of the three previous films came from overseas. Universal believed that it could not make a profit with so many theaters closed.

“Fast 9” was scheduled to be released in the United States on May 22, 2020. The move is a blow to movie theaters. “Fast & Furious” sequels tend to be among the year’s highest-grossing movies and the release date shift leaves Memorial Day weekend without one of its star attractions.

Tom Hanks Is *Not* In Coronavirus Quarantine With Wilson, The Ball From "Cast Away" - BuzzFeed News

Valerie Macon / Getty Images

In case you've been living on a deserted island like in Cast Away, the movie's star, Tom Hanks, and his wife, Rita Wilson, have become the first Hollywood stars to announce they've tested positive for the coronavirus.

Hanks revealed the news on social media from Australia's Gold Coast in Queensland, where he is filming a movie.

The news sent everyone into a spin, including the pair's famous friends, who are now sending their love and prayers to the couple as they stay in medical isolation.

But a fake photo of Hanks in quarantine with a Cast Away "costar" has gone viral on Thursday.

The photo shows Hanks posing with a volleyball with a bloody handprint on it. Fans of the 2000 film know the ball as Wilson, the inanimate object Hanks' character spoke to and befriended in order to preserve some of his sanity.

The photoshopped image was taken from an Australian satirical news website called the Betoota Advocate, known for its cheeky and irreverent take on Aussie culture.

The short article actually played things relatively straight until the last line: "the thoughtful and overworked staff at the Gold Coast hospital have brought Hanks in a Wilson volleyball to keep him company for the duration of his stay."

Several reporters and media figures also shared the Betoota Advocate story on Twitter without acknowledging, or appearing to realize, that it was fake.

not to put too fine a point on it, but at the height of a global pandemic, the lead white house reporter for the most important newspaper in america has retweeted a fake news story about tom hanks receiving wilson the volleyball in quarantine. please send help.

The real image of Hanks posing with the ball was taken from footage of the actor in the crowd at a 2015 hockey game.

Hanks was handed the ball while he appeared on the stadium Jumbotron.

The Daily Mail — and BuzzFeed! — wrote about the moment when it happened back in 2015.

Hanks and Wilson (his wife, not the ball) are currently being treated at Gold Coast University Hospital.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the couple is getting "the best treatment in our hospitals just as we provide to everybody else.”

‘A Quiet Place 2’ Release Delayed Amid Coronavirus Outbreak - Variety

John Krasinski and Emily Blunt’s thriller “A Quiet Place Part II” has been delayed amid concerns around an escalating coronavirus pandemic.

The film, which is released by Paramount Pictures, was slated to roll out internationally on March 18, with a U.K. debut scheduled for March 19 and a North American release set for March 20.

Paramount has not set a new release date for the film yet.

“After much consideration, and in light of the ongoing and developing situation concerning coronavirus and restrictions on global travel and public gatherings, Paramount Pictures will be moving the worldwide release of ‘A Quiet Place Part II,'” the studio said in a statement Thursday. “We believe in and support the theatrical experience, and we look forward to bringing this film to audiences this year once we have a better understanding of the impact of this pandemic on the global theatrical marketplace.”

Krasinski also released a statement that reads, “One of the things I’m most proud of is that people have said our movie is one you have to see all together. Well due to the ever-changing circumstances of what’s going on in the world around us, now is clearly not the right time to do that. As insanely excited as we are for all of you to see this movie .. I’m gonna wait to release the film till we CAN all see it together! So here’s to our group movie date! See you soon!”

U.K. exhibitors were reportedly told Thursday morning that the film had been pulled from schedules for the time being.

The film joins a number of features that have been delayed as a result of coronavirus concerns. Sony recently pushed the global release of “Peter Rabbit 2” to August, while the latest James Bond movie “No Time to Die” grabbed headlines when MGM, Universal and Eon postponed the film’s April release to November.

Cinemas have closed across Europe as governments step up measures to contain the outbreak. Virtually all theaters have been shuttered in Italy, while screens across Poland, parts of the Middle East and India are also being closed. Moviegoing in North America hasn’t been impacted so far, but that could change as officials take measures to limit non-essential public gatherings.

A Quiet Place II,” which follows Blunt’s character as she fights for her family’s survival in total silence, has been heavily marketed globally, particularly as the release is just around the corner. The first film grossed $340 million at the global box office.

The news was first reported by Deadline.

Why It's Possible Peter Weber Could Return to 'The Bachelor' Franchise in the Future - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

This season of The Bachelor ended on a very vague note. There is a possibility that Peter Weber will pursue a relationship with a contestant, but it’s still unclear. Will fans be able to see him on TV again? Find out what an executive had to say about following up on his story and more. [Spoiler Alert: Spoilers for The Bachelor season finale ahead.]

Peter Weber’s season of ‘The Bachelor’ wasn’t spoiled

It was teased from the very beginning that this season of The Bachelor won’t be able to be spoiled. The pilot talked about being excited about this.

“I’m really excited for this season because I’m very confident that no one is going to be able to spoil it, There’s a reason I believe that — and obviously I can’t say it, otherwise it gives it away. I’m very confident that Reality Steve and all of these people, they’re not going to find out what happens — there’s no way they’re going to find out,” Weber told The Hollywood Reporter.

We then found out the reason why. The After the Final Rose was where he revealed whether he is in a relationship after filming.

Weber and Madison Prewett might continue their relationship

The finale showed Weber getting down on one knee for Hannah Ann Sluss after Madison left the show. However, they broke up and Chris Harrison told Madison she might have another chance at love with him. They then reunited.

Weber and Madison reunited on After the Final Rose again. They don’t seem to be in a defined relationship despite admitting they still have feelings for each other.

“I love Peter and that hasn’t changed since that day in Australia,” she said. Madison later said, “I think we were both kind of hoping that after that day in Australia that we would be able to have closure and move on. But I think those feelings never went away.”

Chris Harrison asked them how this is going to end. “Listen, I just think it’s important to say now obviously we talked a little since. We haven’t seen each other, but we’ve been able to talk,” Weber said. “We’ve both been really hurt, extremely hurt and been through the ringer with all this. And I know there’s a lot of healing that both of us have to do. But I know the love and respect that I have for you and that will never change.”

The pilot later admitted, “I don’t know what this actually means right now.” Harrison asked them if they want to try to make their relationship work. Weber answered they’ll take it “one day at a time.”

An executive said we might see Weber again

Weber’s season ended on a very unclear note. Rob Mills, ABC’s Senior Vice President of Alternative Series, Specials & Late-Night Programming, was asked in his interview with Variety if we will see Weber and Madison again.

“If it’s warranted,” he said. “I think, right now, they deserve their privacy. But of course we’ll check up on them. If there’s something that warrants us filming, we would love to be there.”

Bachelor Nation was certainly not happy with Weber by the end of the season. They probably would have something to say if we do see him on TV again.

Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson isolated at hospital 'in stable condition' after coronavirus diagnosis, officials say - Fox News

Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson are "in stable condition" at an Australian hospital after they were diagnosed with coronavirus.

Officials shared an update on the American actors on Thursday after Hanks shared on Instagram that he and Wilson were fully cooperating with the country's medical requirements after testing positive for COVID-19.

The couple is being treated at a Queensland hospital and are in isolation, Australian officials said Thursday.

TOM HANKS, RITA WILSON SAY THEY'VE TESTED POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS

“We wish them a very speedy recovery," state Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk told reporters.

Hanks had been in Australia shooting an untitled Elvis Presley biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann. Hanks plays Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker. The film, slated for release in October 2021, has suspended production, Warner Bros. said.

The two-time Oscar winner is easily the most famous person yet to disclose they have COVID-19, which the World Health Organization has declared a pandemic.

BRIGITTE NIELSEN SAYS HER SONS IN ITALY ‘ARE SCARED’ ABOUT CORONAVIRUS LOCKDOWN: ‘THERE IS A PANIC’

Hanks said he and Wilson had felt tired, with colds, aches and slight fevers. “To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus and were found to be positive," he said, adding they'll be "isolated for as long as public health and safety requires.”

The couple's son Chet Hanks said his parents, both 63, are doing well.

"What up everyone. Yeah, it's true, my parents got coronavirus. Crazy," said Chet on Instagram. "They're both down in Australia right now because my dad was shooting a movie down there but I just got off the phone with them. They both are fine, they're not even that sick."

Chet continued, explaining that his parents aren't worried nor are they "trippin' but they're going through the necessary health precautions..."

"I appreciate everyone's concern and the well wishes but I think it's all going to be alright but I appreciate it and just, everybody stay safe out there," Chet concluded. "Much love."

Wilson had performed at the Sydney Opera House on Saturday night and earlier last week in Brisbane.

Queensland health authorities would not give specifics on their health due to privacy issues. But the state's update on its coronavirus infections describe a U.S. couple of their age, both in stable condition.

Palaszczuk said people who had been in close contact with Hanks and Wilson will have to self-quarantine but she cautioned that people who had taken selfies with Hanks recently should not panic about contracting the virus.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
